On January 31, Huang Xiaowei, Vice President and First Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, and Vice Chairman of the State Council Working Committee on Women and Children, met with Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, and her delegation in Beijing.
Huang Xiaowei said that President Xi Jinping's concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative are highly consistent with the purposes and principles of the United Nations. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the cause of women and children, and has twice attended the commemorative events of the United Nations World Conference on Women in Beijing and delivered important speeches, putting forward China's proposals and promising China's actions. We look forward to working closely with the United Nations to make positive contributions to the commemoration of Beijing+30, the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Huang Xiaowei introduced the 13th National Congress of Chinese Women. She said that General Secretary Xi Jinping personally led the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee to attend the opening meeting of the 13th National Congress of Chinese Women, and had a collective conversation with the members of the new leadership team of the All-China Women's Federation and delivered an important speech, which provided a fundamental basis for the cause of women and the work of the Women's Federation in the new era and new journey, and greatly encouraged and motivated the organizations of the Women's Federation at all levels, women and families. She also introduced General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on the work of women, children and the Women's Federation, the construction of family education and family style, the achievements of Chinese women in the new era and the main work of the All-China Women's Federation, especially the "Spring Bud Project" won the UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education.
Francis highly appreciated President Xi Jinping's proposal to promote the all-round development of women, praised the leadership of the Communist Party of China, said that China is an active advocate and strong promoter of the global women's cause, and the development of women's cause has attracted worldwide attention, and believes that the All-China Women's Federation can share with other UN member states, especially in the economic empowerment of women and bridging the digital gender divide. The United Nations stands ready to work with China to promote gender equality and women's empowerment, and accelerate the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
After the meeting, Huang Xiaowei and Francis and their entourage wrote blessing characters and painted New Year pictures with the children of the China Children's Center to welcome the Spring Festival.
Lin Yi, vice president and secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, and responsible comrades of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant departments of the All-China Women's Federation, the Office of the National Working Committee on Women and Children, and the China Children's Center attended the meeting.
