Those stories in the AIDS room

author:Xinjiang Tiantong Public Welfare

A month ago, I was transferred to the AIDS ward due to work. In order to protect privacy, this department is named: Infectious Disease Department No. 1 Ward, occasionally people from the Red Cross Society of China come to inspect and condole, and will also allocate funds to our unit to purchase medical equipment and free AIDS drugs.

Those stories in the AIDS room

I came to the department with trepidation, because before I came, I had heard a lot of strange and terrible things that happened in the AIDS room.

In the morning, after the doctor and nurse on duty finished their shifts, the director took us to the ward rounds, and came to a ward, which was locked inside, and the director knocked on the door to open the door, and there was an impatient scolding voice from inside: "In the toilet, knock on what to knock." The doctor on duty said: It must be in the XD again, he came back late last night, and it is estimated that he ran out to buy DP again, and everyone shook their heads helplessly. Later, I heard the nurse in the ward say that the patient was very short-tempered, there was a knife hidden at the bedside, the doctor and the nurse did not dare to provoke him, because of long-term drug use, his blood vessels were seriously collapsed and hardened, the nurse gave him injections and blood drawing, it was difficult to find the blood vessels, once he needed to draw blood for laboratory tests, the nurse pricked him a few times, how could he not draw blood, he was very angry, snatched the nurse's needle, pricked himself, and pulled out the blood at once, the skilled action shocked the nurse stunned!

Those stories in the AIDS room

The director estimated that he would not open the door so quickly, so he took us to check on the patient in the next ward, it was a 26-year-old policeman, he was really handsome, I heard that his ex-girlfriend came to him once, and the two continued their relationship, and they were recruited once together, he couldn't believe that he had AIDS, and he couldn't accept the fact that he was depressed several times, and it was his mother who knelt down and begged him, and he agreed to come for treatment, I couldn't help but sympathize with him in my heart, thinking that he was infected with this disease at such a young age, and his good youth was ruthlessly shrouded in this way for a lifetime, what a pity!

There is also a single room in the ward, living an old patient, Fujianese, I heard that it is a boss, with a pair of glasses, gentle and elegant, he greeted us very politely when we went in to check the ward, he turned out to be because of gastrointestinal diseases, admitted to the gastroenterology department, when admitted to the hospital checked HIV, the result showed positive, he did not believe it, asked for a new examination, had to give him a second retest, the result was still positive, had to be transferred to the infection department. The doctor on duty later told me that the boss had four lovers, and he said that he was looking for simple young girls, and he did not believe that one of his four lovers had AIDS, but the fact made him have to admit that he had lost his eyes. The doctor in charge told me that no one would write AIDS on their faces, so he sighed and continued to write medical records.

Those stories in the AIDS room

There is also a large room in the ward, there are five patients living in it, about 60~70 years old, all of them are old people in rural areas, there is not much education, I heard that some of them were infected because they went to the square dance to make friends, and some of them were infected in Fengyue places, these old people have low education, they don't know what AIDS is at all, and they asked the doctor how they got this disease, how long can this disease be cured, and how much treatment is needed? When I saw their ignorant and innocent faces, I couldn't help but feel pity, and I really felt that they were quite pitiful!

There are also two wards that are closed, in the final disinfection, the doctor on duty said that two patients died last night, because the condition deteriorated, the rescue was ineffective death, the director told me, here sometimes four or five patients die a day, I suddenly felt a chill, cold on my back, I feel like I have arrived in Palestine, death is so close to me, there is an indescribable sense of sadness in my heart!

The society is open and progressive, but the open society has been misinterpreted by many people, losing self-restraint and indulging themselves, thus contracting this undeserved disease.

Once an AIDS patient is not treated and controlled in a timely and effective manner, his health will deteriorate rapidly, and he will have to endure great physical pain and mental pressure, and at the same time, he will also bring great sadness to his family and those around him.

Those stories in the AIDS room

Although there is no complete cure for AIDS at present, as long as the infected person can be detected early, follow the doctor's guidance and insist on taking antiviral drugs regularly and quantitatively. Regular testing of CD4+ T lymphocyte levels, viral load, and liver and kidney function can make the life expectancy of HIV-infected patients largely unaffected and allow them to live to the life expectancy of normal people. In particular, there are many benefits to early medication:

1. Reduce the toxicity and side effects of the drug, whether the drug produces toxic side effects, there are obvious individual differences, but generally speaking, patients who start treatment when the CD4+ T lymphocyte count is high, the drug toxicity and side effects are lower.

2. It is conducive to the recovery and maintenance of immune function, and the immune function of the body has not been significantly reduced in the early stage, so timely inhibition of virus replication can avoid serious damage to the immune system.

3. Reduce the occurrence of opportunistic infections and complications, inhibit virus replication for a long time, maintain normal immune function in the body, and the probability of opportunistic infections is extremely low, thereby delaying the progression of the disease and prolonging the life of the infected.

4. Early infection can also significantly reduce the probability of HIV transmission, HIV transmission efficiency has a significant correlation with the viral load in the body, early treatment effectively inhibits the replication of the virus in the body, greatly reduces the infectivity of the virus, and can effectively protect family and friends.
