In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the atmospheric environment in mainland China, consumers' concerns about air quality have shifted from particulate matter (PM 2.5) to gaseous pollutants and microorganisms (e.g., viruses, bacteria, allergens). As a result, manufacturers have also made improvements to the performance of air purifiers, and new functions and technologies have emerged one after another.
In this context, the new version of the national standard GB/T 18801-2022 "Air Purifiers" (hereinafter referred to as the "new national standard") was released and will be officially implemented on May 1, 2023, replacing GB/T 18801-2015 "Air Purifiers". Compared with the 2015 version, the 2022 version of the new national standard has more detailed technical requirements and richer testing methods, and is also more in line with the development trend of the industry and the actual needs of consumers.
Compared with the 2015 version of the old standard, the new national standard adds the test methods of "allergens", "odor" and "virus", defines "particulate matter PM2.5" separately, and adds a "working mode" to replace the original "rated state" and "standby state", including "rated mode", "low noise mode", "automatic mode", "shutdown mode", "non-network standby mode" and "network standby mode". In addition, new requirements for minimum noise limits and performance parameters have been added for the "Low Noise Mode". GB/T 18801-2022 "Air Purifiers" puts forward higher requirements for air purifier products, and will play a good guiding role in the product development and market specifications of air purifiers.
