Liang Hao: I just went down the mountain above

A corner of Mt. Kamikata

In Beijing in mid-October, it was already eighty percent of the autumn weather. Occasionally, you can bump into scattered and sensitive enough leaves on the side of the road, preempt some red and yellow corners, and the corners are silent for a long time, and now they are born to die, sad and precious, warm and rampantly eye-catching. Day by day is getting more and more depressed, making people tired, and secretly calling you to cherish the time at the end of the year. The heating in the city has not yet spread with great fanfare, and people wandering around the streets or indoors in a daze, they can feel the coolness and dryness of the air, and then understand that whether they are ready or not, the heavens and the earth are quietly changing their backgrounds, waiting for you to adapt, love or endure. At this time, sit down honestly, gather energy, gather emotions, and think about a mountain in your heart. The head really warmed up, and the limbs also had a little more heat, which is the physiological reaction when the memories are pulled out and the feeling is brewing smoothly. Thanks to the time interval and deposition of this time, the words that are knocked out at the moment are neither impulsive nor tired of "coping", so that the long-distance trip to western Beijing at the turn of spring and summer has more real feelings and true feelings.

The more genuine the feelings, the more you need to wake up solemnly, just like a certain type of drink, shake it before drinking, the better the effect in the mouth. So I took out my phone, clicked on the photo, and knew that it was there, waiting for me to come again. A person or a group of people, coming and going from the south to the north, the scene of the year in the album and the picture set out and whistling by, the mighty moment, mixed and fresh, like a rock formation, piled up a new life scene. It suddenly occurred to me that instead of constantly sliding upwards and being intercepted and lured by various memories, it is better to click directly on the location bar of the album, stretch it from the dimension of geographical space, from the macro to the micro, look for it, and finally reunite with it. The Beijing in the map filled the screen, and he suddenly became curious about the "four poles" of the capital he had been to, and his fingers immediately listened to the order, kept dialing and comparing, and waited for the image - The northernmost is the Mutianyu Great Wall, and I will naturally not forget the scenes and moods of the two boarding sites in late summer and early autumn; the southernmost is the Daxing International Airport, which is frequently used as a transit place for departure and return, and has vague connotations of both; in the easternmost, I still remember the whim of that day, riding on my beloved small electric motorcycle, all the way to Songzhuang in Tongzhou; the westernmost and westernmost Jingxi Ancient Road, which is not even in Mentougou, and there are photos emerging in the southwest direction - it is the mountain, which condenses the grass and trees, tourists, temples, and nunnery on the mountain. The birds and beasts and the time of that time were sunk in a slightly darker green fold marked as a mountain. From the wonders of ancient times to the current science and technology, from the experimental and changeable art to the immovable landscapes, the "Four Poles" is not only my own deeds, but also the right summary of Beijing. At least for this moment, I am sincerely grateful to the inventors of photo positioning.

Speaking of the southwest-facing mountain, the mountain has a name and a surname, and the name and surname are responsible and clever, so it is called the upper mountain. All the mountains in the world are above the earth and all living beings, why is this mountain called the upper mountain? Tuan Tuan asked around, and his words were unknown. Someone said that this mountain at this moment is the Dulu Mountain at that time. According to the "Hanshu Wudi Ji", Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was in the fourth year of Yuanfeng (108 BC), "Dulu, Mingze, since the generation and returned, fortunately to the east of the river". Mingze, Ze name, according to the examination in Zhuo County, that is, the west of Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. Or because of this, due to the proximity of geographical location, it is claimed that Dulu is the mountain above, and you can also talk about it. There is also a relatively safe version, when in the Eastern Wei Dynasty, there are monks here to open mountains, build temples, build roads, go through generations of additional construction and repair, to the Qing Dynasty, and finally form the pattern of Zhu Yizun's poem "Youyan Ancient Mystery Room, Tushi in the middle of the rock, seventy-two flower palaces, up and down the east and west". Lonely and unheard of like me, just listen, inconvenient beak.

Before leaving, on a map that is said to have been hand-drawn in the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930 AD), it is clear that there are several caves, nunnery, courtyards and halls scattered on the mountains above. So I understood that from ancient times to the present, the upper mountain is the place where the Buddha practiced enlightenment. The ancients knew that this place must have a unique beauty in the mountains, and suddenly felt that the strength of the feet doubled, and the heart was itchy. Before climbing with your legs, take a ride on the cable car. The cable car is both a quick and easy way to get around and provides an excellent viewing angle. The man sat down in the carriage, alone in a line, looking around at the mountains and the sky shattered by the mountains, and soon had an overall impression. The mountains here, the shape and gods are all similar to the mountains in the area of Beiyue Heng Mountain, the rock is the body, vigorous and simple, the sense of shape is strong, the grass and green trees are mixed between them, capable and elegant. Later, I learned that although the upper mountain is in Beijing, it still belongs to the remnants of Dafang Mountain on the northern edge of Taihang Mountain, which makes sense. Wait until you step on the mountain again, climb the steps, immerse yourself, and be in a trance in the Qingcheng Mountain of Shu, just because of the mountain, most of the time the vision is limited, and see the mountain stream slanting out, where there is more water, the greenery is more wandering, and the branches and leaves are luxuriant. Liu Tong and Yu Yizheng in the Ming Dynasty wrote "The Scenery of the Imperial Palace", in which the article "The Mountain Above" said: "The peaks and horizontal streams are bundled, and the side paths on the streams are like the toes of the ancient walls, and the people are like walking in the lanes." "Even now, the plank road has been repaired and guardrails have been added, but you can still feel the steepness of the past. A narrow stone staircase, swaying with the mountain, during the peak flow of people, you can see a bending and winding column of mountaineers resting for a while.

Liang Hao: I just went down the mountain above

From a distance, the shape is full of gods

The mountain road is cramped, the mountain shape is steep, and the stone walls of the four sides are pressed down, so the way to climb always has a small and small palpitation. Yuan Zongdao once traveled to the upper mountain with his friends, and wrote four articles of the downstream "Upper Mountain", which wrote: "The stone wall jumps more than 100 zhang, the wall is pale yellow, flat and smooth, and there are colorful intervals. There is a stone on the wall, if the crown is like a pillar, it seems to want to fall down, making people dizzy. At the same time, I thought that the mountain trails were more dangerous and unbridled, and there were more than enough plants and trees, but there were only a few monks and companions in the temple, and there were no logistics, security, management, heavenly eyes, and cable cars. In modern society, all kinds of blessings and benefits are clearly marked, and there is no solution to understanding, only to admit it. continued to grit his teeth in a muffled voice, took three steps at a time, and rushed to the door of a certain temple before panting.

According to the guide's introduction, there are 72 Mao'an temples such as Manjushri Temple, Tushi Temple, Puji Temple, Yunshui Cave, Douquan Nunnery and so on in the upper mountain, collectively known as the 72 Zen Temple, collectively referred to as the Shangshan Temple, but it is easy to remember. These temples, scattered in the mountains like needles and slightly soothing flats, look at the scale and style, should be mostly renovated or remodeled in recent years, unchanged, is the ancient meaning and Zen of the mind, but the mood and techniques are different after all, fortunately, it can still be matched with the surrounding mountains.

The temple in front of you is small but imposing, and if you look closely, it is the Tushi Temple, which is called "the head of the 72 hermitages". It is said that the temple was built in Sui, in a photo of the Republic of China, the main hall is almost the same as what you see today, nothing more than a few bright lacquer colors, neat gray walls, brilliant potted plants, still quiet in the secluded. I remember Yuan Zongdao talking about his feelings when he arrived at Huanxitai: "Looking back at this body, it is like the bottom of the crab claw Guo Suotan, from the well, with the body as an urn, although it is restored, it cannot be slaughtered." The unique and unconventional spirit advocated by the public security faction can be seen from this, which seems to lead to the helplessness of human beings being compared to nature, which is also reasonable. I wandered in the Tushi Temple, the heart rate dropped sharply, and then looked at the mountains outside the temple, the form is varied, the forest is coiled, the greenery is ups and downs, the ears listen to the birds and the birds, although because of the secular to the deep and do not understand the true meaning of Sanskrit, but I feel a little next to a little "all laws have no self, silence is happy" meaning, and do not feel how to be depressed, be bound, but graft all things in heaven and earth, and enjoy the smooth flow of moving in stillness, returning to the basics. According to the public security faction, perhaps, this is my sexual spirit.

The ancient tree arborvitae in the atrium of Tushi Temple is estimated to be about 350 years old

Buddhism says that the person who takes the lead is the fourth day of the six days of desire. "Lengyan Sutra" says: "All times are quiet, there should be touched, and there is no violation, after the end of life, ascend to the subtlety, do not connect with the heavenly realm of the lower realm, and even the three calamities are not in time, such as a category, the name is Tuotian." "The life expectancy of those who live in this heaven is four thousand years, and the life of Tushi is four hundred years in the world. I don't know if the world will completely change after going down the mountain this time, and I have to be a new person, what remains unchanged is that I am still a member of the insignificant beings, what will become an immortal and become a saint, a Buddha and a demon, how dare I be delusional. It is said that people in Tushitian will only have a heart of joy and contentment for their own and external feelings, so it is also called Joyful Contentment Heaven. If there is this guarantee, even if we are exiled from the world, become a human again, and go through the red dust, what is there to fear?

Afterwards, the Republic of China's "Fangshan County Chronicles" contained: "Dafang Mountain, the ancient name of Dafang Mountain. Since the Yuan Dynasty rebuilt Fangshan County, the name of the Great Defense was extinguished. Therefore, some people believe that the upper mountain should gradually evolve from Dafang Mountain and Dafang Mountain. "Fangshan County Chronicles" says: "The upper mountain is named after the upper temple. That is, there was a temple first, and then it became the name of the mountain. Considering the relationship between the development and propagation of the upper mountain and Buddhism, in the Buddhist system, the so-called upper originally referred to the Buddhist temple in the mountain, and later called the abbot, because it lived in the highest depth of the temple. Considering the whole situation, the crown above the mountain should mean that there is a mountain of Buddhist temples, which is really a transparent truth. At this point, I finally gave myself an explanation.

Due to time constraints, it is not possible to go to Unshui Cave, one of the main attractions. Wait to look at the photos, only to see the natural stalagmites, stone pillars, stone curtains in the cave, and there are light shows, artificial Arhat Maitreya and other portraits, lively and romantic, comparable to those early development on the southwest karst landform, famous caves. When looking through the materials, I found that the person who first surveyed and mapped the Yunshui Cave was actually a French "geologist", and his Chinese translation obviously carried the translation atmosphere of that era - Puyiya. With Sijiu City as the center, and the upper mountain is located in the remote part of Fangshan, why did this French man named Puyiya have a strong interest in Shangshan and Yunshui Cave in the early 20th century? So according to the map, all the way to collect information, screen each other, the harvest far beyond expectations, as if inadvertently stepping into another unique secret realm, the same romantic, not not lively, but far from romantic and lively can be said.

Born in 1862, Puyiya was a graduate of the École Nationale des Arts et Métiers Internationales de l'École des Petévelopes (IN-ARTS) and was employed by the Qing Dynasty government at the age of 36. On this occasion, he had an arduous and glorious task - to survey and map the topographical map along the Luhan Railway. Speaking of the Luhan Railway (that is, the railway from Lugou Bridge to Hankou, later renamed the Jinghan Railway and the Pinghan Railway), you may think of the high-ranking but powerless Guangxu Emperor. After the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, "on this day of great pain, when our ministers were lying down and tasting their courage", the young and vigorous emperor put forward six "practical policies" and first recommended the construction of railways. In addition, we should think of Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Huguang at the time. "There are many places where China should open railways, and Luhan should be the first priority", Zhang Daren repeated the earnest call of the Qing court, and the words were still in his ears. Even, people who are interested will think of the famous character in modern Chinese history, Li Hongzhang, who is in charge of the northern section of the Luhan Railway with the Yellow River as the boundary. Note, however, that in less than ten years, from 1898, Puyiya served as chief engineer of the northern section of the Luhan Railway and chief engineer of the whole railway, until he left his post in 1927.

This science and engineering man who graduated from a prestigious university, in addition to his main business, also has a passion for the study of China's topography, geology, and historical sites. He always seems to be able to make his love a career. Soon after, Puyiya was commissioned by the Chinese government to draw up a large number of detailed maps of the Gyeonggi region. These highly accurate topographic maps became the only ones to study the geographical history of Beijing at that time.

During the construction of the Luhan Railway, in order to transport the building materials, stones and coal needed for road construction, it was necessary to open the Tuoli branch line and the Zhoukoudian branch line in Liangxiang and Fangshan counties respectively. At the same time, as a photography enthusiast, Puyiya took a large number of photographs, which are the earliest known images of Fangshan - it was photography that made the French engineer who traveled thousands of miles to China to participate in infrastructure projects gain more widespread fame in the years that followed.

In 1930, Comrade Pu Yiya, an iron buddy of the Chinese people, died of illness in Beiping, and two years later, his widow, Ms. Zhu Derong, donated about 5,000 photographs and other graphic materials taken and collected by her lover to the National Peiping Library at that time. The guests who attended the ceremony, in addition to the director of the museum, Yuan Tongli, also Hu Shi, Weng Wenhao and the French minister to China and other more than 300 people. This engineer and geologist, who has enhanced the friendship between China and France with practical actions, has been dedicated to his job for more than 30 years, and has made considerable contributions to the development of China's modern society.

Regarding Puyiya, it is said that it can be put on a rest. But many times, the resurgence of waves is often due to inadvertent double looks. It was the second glance that brought me to a dramatic detail – No. 81 Chaonei Street, Puyiya's residence in Beijing. That's right, it's No. 81 Chaonei Street, which is famous for its "ghost" and is constantly being manipulated by the public. Just looking at the information given on the Internet, the connection between No. 81 Chaonei Street and Puyiya can be described as full of doubts. Don't give up, so, put a little more effort into the evidence. Finally, the rough truth emerged.

Before 1965, the house number of No. 81 Chaonei Street was No. 69, which was shown to be the residence of Ms. Chu Tak-rong. Born in Guangzhou in 1885, Zhu Derong came to the distant capital and met his lover, who was 23 years older than him, Pu Yiya, who was then the chief engineer of the Luhan Railway. After their marriage, the exotic couple purchased a homestead at No. 69 Chaonei Street, and Puyiya personally designed and built two three-story French-style buildings. At the beginning of 1921, the house was completed, clear and welcoming, and the front yard was transformed into a large garden. In the following decades, history and everyone in it were full of twists and turns, and at the end of the 90s of the 20th century, the No. 81 courtyard of Chaonei Street was almost demolished due to desertion and dilapidation, but fortunately it was stopped and has been idle as a dangerous building. It is said that it was the glaring word "demolition" on the building that slowed down the footsteps of a passing American reporter. This enthusiastic reporter mistakenly confused these two small buildings with the former North China Concord Discourse School building not far to the west, and then wrote a report entitled "A School Recording Sino-US Historical Relations Will Be Demolished." The article did not forget to describe what Fairbank and other scholars had seen and heard about studying here, which attracted attention for a while. At that time, the relevant departments of Dongcheng District of Beijing Municipality were compiling the "Donghua Illustrated Chronicles," and this article attracted the attention of the compilation team. The compilation staff dialed the phone of the American reporter to verify what he said, and received a lame Chinese and a positive reply. As a result, the compilers made the No. 81 Institute the location of the original school. Because of the endorsement of the official family, the matter has been falsely spread to this day, even if some people deliberately clarify, after all, the public is noisy, and there is a great posture of truth and falsehood when the fake is true.

My chatter is nothing more than a very futile clarification. Of course, clarifying even the smallest historical details is an extremely important and necessary matter. And the reason why I can't bear to let go, in addition to the urge to knock on the truth, is also because I am also interested in this kind of "false rheological history". The history of false rumors has also become a part of history. History, always between the cautiousness and carelessness of "speaking" and "writing", in the relay misreading and trying to clarify from generation to generation, has passed through your and my lives - can you still remember Ms. Zhu Derong, who was born in Lingnan and stayed in the capital? This old man, who had converted to God but was still unable to escape the colossal loneliness and endless troubles, had already carried his little-known grievances and scattered, quietly left his former home, disappeared from the main axis of history, died in an unknown year, and the future became a mystery, leaving behind a desolate old courtyard that was not fading due to misunderstanding and entertainment.

In the meantime, I noticed a photograph of the Unti-an on the mountain above. A middle-aged man with a slightly fat figure is placed about one-third of the left side of the photograph with his waist leaning against a rock on his left. Embedded in the stone are chains that climbers use to grasp, and the chains flicker with the mountain, and the near section has a virtual effect. The subject of this photograph wears a fisherman's hat, with a Western face and a big nose tilted to the right, facing the mountains and heavens of ancient China at a 45-degree angle, and his face is full of unpaid concentration and rigor, as if he does not know what poetry and zen are in the photograph. The geological pickaxe in his hand, because he is climbing, is held upside down by him, and it can be used as a trekking pole. In terms of the dynamics, layout and personality of the photographs, I think this medium-shot portrait is not inferior to Bresson's most wonderful portraits. In the picture, the geologist was to map the monasteries in the mountains above, and in the end, he successfully drew an accurate contour map, and at the same time, completed the first professional investigation of Yunshui Cave in history.

Liang Hao: I just went down the mountain above

Puyiya is under the cloud ladder of the upper mountain

The mountain above, which still seems primitive and wild at the moment, has been carefully watched and protected, and the silent intervention of technology is far older than imagined. At that time, I didn't know and didn't know anything, and I climbed all the way, mostly a perceptual experience, and I gladly accepted this sensibility.

In this mountain, although people often have a cramped vision, they do not feel bored. One of the cliffs cover the sky, the branches cover the sun, the obscurity makes people quiet, the two mountain wind and flowing water are compassionate, no matter how big the heart fire, it can also be smoothed by the wisps, the part of the mountain above the three, each has the wind god, only hates to come and go in a hurry but has no three heads and six arms. The water falls on the side of the mountain, the greenery is mixed and horizontal, and the proud shore and strange ancient trees, the air roots are open, each has a place and a doorway to settle down, but it is unanimously old and not old age, as if to live for hundreds or thousands of years. When you go to the mountain above, the trees stand in front of you in deep and shallow silence, and you can understand at once that they are not to be underestimated.

The oriental cypress of the mountain above, preferring to go out obliquely, where it is steep and dangerous, it breeds there, awe-inspiring and splashing bark, and the trunk blooms in strips, as if it is self-defeating, and it is an unruly and unruly idiot look, so that people dare not touch it easily, and can only change the angle, and pat it all over. I love these lonely and high-spirited arborvitae, not piled up, one is counted as one, one is the same appearance, and I am enough to be lovable. The good of the pine lies in its own harmony with the sense of difference. Its trunk is tall and vigorous, the bark is stacked in scales, calm and full, but at the top of the trunk, suddenly spread out the wrong branches, like a snake's nest in early spring, the branches are messy on the top, enchanting and colorful, the top and bottom are not in the same key, perverse and paradoxical to make people excited. Compared with Arborvitae and Pinus tabuliformis, the national acacia is worthy of the four words of Zhou Zheng's grace, from the root to the leaf tops, a tree should have the decency, rules, delicacy and vigorous, the national acacia is all satisfied, and the solemn atmosphere of the law is logical from head to toe. As for Bodhi and Gu Tan, the two brothers are not Kuiwei, and they can hardly be called handsome, their bodies are tangled and stocky, one has entered the Buddha realm, and the other has entered the Demon Dao. The ancient sandalwood, the anger of the body is palpable, as if the more alive and twisted, but it is the most intriguing, looking at it for a long time, it seems to be able to hear the moans and shouts from the scarred trunk, the heart is shocked, and then laughs. When it comes to humble gentlemen and uproars, the so-called ginkgo tree king with a height of 21 meters and a crown width of 9 meters should not be allowed. It is said that the tree was born in the Tang Dynasty, and 1,200 years have passed, and it is still a spirited and energetic old fellow. In late autumn, the gold leaves are swirling, the trees are full of bright colors and rhythms, there is no complaining and self-harm, only the beauty and calmness at a glance, look at the photos, rely on imagination, not satisfied, if you come to the mountain again, look at the ginkgo biloba in autumn, it is the only reason. However, when the words are full, they immediately leak out, and since we talk about autumn, we can't help but think of winter. After the wind and snow, the white of the mountains and fields, along the mountain walls, rocks, tree groups, and temples, is undoubtedly another look and style.

The tree is old and affectionate

There are fellow landscaping staff, repeatedly emphasizing that the trees on the mountain above should remain in their original state, naturally wither, and minimize unnecessary human intervention. Shooting will not deceive, after going down the mountain, looking through the mobile phone album, I found that this trip to the upper mountain, more than half of the photos were given to Gu Mu. The elegance of the ancient wood is peerless, which fascinates and envies me. I think to myself, apart from perseverance and a little luck, I think they have not forgotten their own temperament and true nature, and at the right time, they will drill into the sky and the earth according to that temperament, live and live out their true colors, style and dignity, and after that, they will die and no one can do anything about it. They are both obedient to the cycle of the four seasons and detached from this reciprocating cycle, and they are always silent and self-sufficient, allowing you to see, shoot, think, and self-affirm and deny. Approaching them is an intuition, a voice that doesn't need to be thought.

By chance, I, a layman in all aspects, was able to climb the mountain above, not only to join in the fun, but also to seek leisure, and to sweat and detoxify by the way. The karst, flora and fauna, and cultural landscapes of the mountains above, such as the only unique Fangshan delphinium in the world, and the scarce vegetation such as Shenggu Oil, which is only distributed here in Beijing, really have a great way, and insiders can definitely enjoy it with relish and enjoy it more rewardingly.

When going down the mountain, you can occasionally see Tallinn and stone monuments, although they are renovated by later generations, you can still get a glimpse of the scenery of the year. They are silently hidden in the shadows of the dense forest, thick and austere, which, in turn, accentuates the silence and serenity of the sunset. When I was about to reach the cable car, I suddenly screamed, and then I saw a group of green forest heroes on the mountain on one side - macaques. In the end, it is the monkeys of the mountain above, well-proportioned, with no signs of fortune, they are either wandering or sitting cross-legged on the rock face, scratching their heads, picking at their feet, chewing something in their mouths, looking at you with confused eyes, twisting their heads again, and waiting for you to raise the cuboid in your hand.

Liang Hao: I just went down the mountain above

Woods and monkeys

Sister Zhang at the entrance of the cable car said that last summer, an impala jumped from the cliff, and before long, it flew away and disappeared without a trace. At that time, she and it, the two old neighbors and natives of the mountain above, met and looked at each other on this narrow mountain road, and at the same time fell into a not short silence and stillness. Sister Zhang said with great interest, and I listened attentively, thinking about the route and posture of the impala that appeared and left. We are not impalas, so we can only take the cable car down the mountain, gently gliding over the vast green forest and between the towering rock walls. How many people's time, steps, beliefs, careers and even lives are like grass and trees, insects, fish, birds and beasts in the mountains, gently crossing the mountains above the ups and downs and the flow of four seasons. The mountains are vast and the ancient trees are eternal, silently accepting, witnessing and waiting for encounters again and again, or even staying together, regardless of the protagonist, supporting role, or background or props.

Liang Hao: I just went down the mountain above

Hanging on a thread

For me, just going down the mountain, it is a little bit of withdrawal from the "West Pole", and then returning to the center and key points, repeating, and refreshing my life. People can't live in the "extreme" all the time, but they can't help but explore the "extreme" in the same way. Above the mountain, a good capital "polar".
