According to the information we have, the Kuomintang spies carried out a so-called "firefly" operation and plotted to assassinate the party, government, and military leaders of the East China Bureau of the Communist Party of China and celebrities in Shanghai. In addition to preparing to assassinate Chen Yi, the target figures also include Luo Ruiqing, Zhang Chengzong, Zhu Xuefan, Rong Yiren, etc.
The Kuomintang attached great importance to the "Firefly Operation" and specially organized 28 special forces led by Feng Qizeng, head of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang Special Work Station of the Secret Bureau and commander of the "Jiangsu and Zhejiang People's Self-Defense Corps," to infiltrate Shanghai from Zhoushan.

In 1933, Liu Quande was sent to Shanghai to work as a traitor and guard for the underground party, but two years later, he was accidentally arrested in Wuhan, and soon defected to the enemy and joined the Blue Coat Society.

After much scrutiny, it was determined that a man named Gao Jiyun was the most politically reliable and the most usable to me.

When asked if he knew a person named Liu Quande, Gao Jiyun was directly frightened, stood up directly from the chair, and waved his hands: "We only met a few times in the 30s, and we haven't interacted with each other since. ”
"That's right, he went to Taiwan, but now he is moving back to Shanghai in an attempt to assassinate an important leader, so we want to ask you to come forward and find a way to find him and help us dig up this scourge!"
After some understanding, Gao Jiyun was finally persuaded to be willing to act as an "informant" for the government.
The reason why Gao Jiyun knew Liu Quande was because he was a student at the Political Security School of Wang's puppet agent headquarters, and once Liu Quande was injured in a mistake and ran to the Political Security School to hide, Gao Jiyun and his roommate Shi Xiaofeng hid him together and brought him food every day.
Liu Quande is very grateful to these two life-saving benefactors, but relatively speaking, Shi Xiaofeng has a better temper and plays better.
Shi Xiaofeng later opened a "Fu Shunxing Cotton" on Shanxi Road, and the security personnel believed that Liu Quande would not stay in a hotel after arriving in Shanghai, and it was likely that he would hide in Shi Xiaofeng's house.
So, on November 9, Gao Jiyun was ordered to go to the "Fu Shunxing Cotton", and as soon as he arrived at the door, he met Shi Xiaofeng, who had returned from running errands outside.
The two friends hadn't seen each other for many years, Shi Xiaofeng was very happy, and directly took Gao Jiyun to the second floor: "Look who this is!"

Liu Quande was unwary of Gao Jiyun, the life-saving benefactor, but he was worried that he would be "red", so he just claimed to "come to Shanghai to do business", and set up a banquet at noon, and kept pouring wine, wanting Gao Jiyun to "spit out the truth after drinking".
In order to avoid being suspected, Gao Jiyun did not refuse to come, drank cup after cup, but he didn't dare to get really drunk, so after drinking a lot, he took advantage of Liu Quande and Shi Xiaofeng's unpreparedness, bit off half of the cigarette in his mouth and swallowed his stomach, and began to vomit on the spot.
After that, Gao Jiyun pretended to be drunk, shook his head, and said vaguely: "I-hiccup, drunk, go back to sleep for a while, you guy-talk slowly......"

Gao Jiyun staggered out, turned to a place where Liu Quande couldn't see him, looked around, and then trotted all the way to the People's Liberation Army and traffic police who were directing traffic nearby: "Hurry up, follow me to catch spies!"
The three of them ran back to the vicinity of the "Fu Shunxing Cotton", Gao Jiyun was worried about startling the snake, so he asked the traffic police and the PLA soldiers to wait at the window, and he went in by himself, and if Liu Quande was still there, he waved his hat by the window as a signal.

In this way, the spy Liu Quande was officially arrested. After some interrogation, the public security department obtained important clues: Beijing cracked the case of a premeditated assassination of Chairman Mao Zedong headed by Ji Zhaoxiang; Guangdong cracked the case of a premeditated assassination of Ye Jianying headed by Huang Qiangwu; and Shanghai also arrested 19 spies.
On October 2, 1950, Liu Quande and other heinous spies were sentenced to death, and the rest were severely punished by law.
