In 2021, Jianye District launched the "Nanhu Memory" urban renewal plan, reproducing the scenes of the 80s along Nanhu East Road, exploring the relationship between the city, space and people, and creating a new type of characteristic block containing the memory of the times.
Today, the "Nanhu Memory" urban renewal plan has completed two phases, and "repairing the old as the old" has become a distinctive feature of this renewal.
Big-character posters, stamps, aluminum snack boxes...... Old objects from the last century have been brought to the streets, and strolling here, it is like walking into the drama "Flowers", the deeply buried memories are triggered, and the heart is filled with a trace of tenderness.
Some of the old stores have also been preserved and rebuilt, and the "exclusive memory" belonging to Nanjing people has been restarted again.
In January 2023, Nanjing's first roadside café, Nanhu Cafe, will reopen its original site, and the taste buds of the 80s will be opened again.
"South Lake in the 80s of the last century was fashionable and sophisticated. Nanhu Cafe first opened in 1985, a year before I moved to Kangfu Village. 67-year-old Wang Yuping recalled that when she was working in the warehouse of Nanjing Rolling Mill, on the opening day of Nanhu Cafe, she and her "little sisters" went to join in the fun and catch up with the fashion as soon as she got off work.
