The brand Potensic is relatively new in China, and has been deeply involved in foreign markets before, and has been sold in more than 40 countries and regions. Their ATOM is the latest main drone at present, with a weight of 249 grams without registration, self-developed digital image transmission supports up to 6km flight distance, the camera comes with a three-axis gimbal to support 4K30 frame rate video recording, 5 levels of wind resistance and 4000 meters of take-off altitude is also a good configuration. The outer packaging is as shown above, which is very simple and low-key. The overall style of the Botan ATOM drone is very similar to DJI, haha, that's all I can say.
Inside the box are several instructions and a portable storage bag, the quality of the bag is very good, and there is plenty of storage space.
The double zipper has a large opening, and when opened, the interior is divided into four areas, all of which are filled with thick protective pads. In particular, the position of the drone in the upper left corner is also thoughtfully designed with an independent position.
Take out all the accessories in the carrying case as shown in the picture above, very luxurious, the drone is tied with a storage belt, 60W white charger, three batteries and a charging hub, type-c charging cable, a remote control, two sets of 16 spare rotor blades, three mobile phone cables (adapted to Apple, Android and other devices), a 64G V30 high-speed memory card.
The charger supports a wide range of voltages, suitable for all kinds of users at home and abroad, and the plug adopts a replaceable knob design, pressing the left round button, you can easily twist off the plug and replace it with other versions.
The charging butler of the Botan ATOM drone I think is really good, which is why I bought a three-electric set. You can charge 3 batteries at a time, and you can check the current battery level after pressing the button in the upper left corner. 60W ultra-fast charging speed, three batteries are fully charged in an hour and a half, and occasionally I want to go out and fly for a while, and I am not afraid of temporary charging.
In addition to charging three batteries at the same time, the charging hub also has a USB-A charging port, which can also be used to charge the flight controller with the included charging cable.

The Botan ATOM drone is very small, and when folded, it is as big as Zhang Xiaocao. The size is only 14.3x8.8 x5 .8cm, and the size is 30x24.2x 5.8cm when unfolded, which is not large.

The battery installation position is designed at the back, a single battery is 2300mAh, one battery can fly for 30 minutes, and three can achieve an hour and a half of flying experience. There is a TF card slot designed under the battery, 32G is enough, 64G is absolutely satisfied, and there is no need for too much capacity.
The bottom of the drone is designed as shown in the figure above, and the switch is designed in the middle of the bottom of the fuselage, next to which is the power indicator. The two camera-like circular devices on the right are the drone's downward vision system, which contains a monocular camera and a TOF module. The hovering function mainly relies on the cooperation between this lower eye vision system and GPS. There is also a status indicator on the far right, which can be clearly identified when flying at night.
It's easy to use and comfortable to control
After talking about accessories and design workmanship, here is the newcomer to the Botan ATOM UAV.
Special attention needs to be paid to the fact that the battery needs to be charged and activated before take-off. Scan the code to download the official APP (PotensicPro) while charging, register by email, and then select your own model to view the detailed Chinese manual. Of course, the APP is also equipped with relevant operation videos and GIFs, so you can grasp the basic operations and precautions by watching them once.
Before take-off, you need to connect the handle and the phone through the included data cable and install it in place. Press and hold the switch button for 2 seconds, and the handle will automatically connect to the phone after it is turned on. After the controller is connected to the bit, the controller icon in the APP will turn blue. After installing the drone battery, press the drone boot button once, and then press and hold for 2 seconds, the drone will remember after self-inspection, and then start searching for the handle, when the connection is successful, the mobile phone on the handle will transmit the content of the drone camera in real time.
After the mobile phone APP is successfully connected, the whole interface is as shown in the figure above, click the one-key automatic take-off button in the middle position on the left, and the drone will automatically take off and hover at a position of 1.5m. At this point, the user can control the joystick to perform flight operations such as forward, backward, left, right, and up.
For the first test flight of newcomers, it is recommended to turn on the novice mode in the settings of the PotensicPro APP, as shown in the figure above, the novice mode is limited to a cylindrical space with a height of 30 meters and a radius of 30 meters by default. Find an open space, turn on the novice mode and try to fly for more than ten minutes, which can help us quickly grasp the control logic of the drone.
In terms of control, I personally feel that Botan is still very comfortable, and the display content on the entire screen is very complete, as long as you are a little familiar with it, you can master the various states of the drone.
In terms of control mode, it has two built-in control modes, as shown in the figure above, which can meet the usage habits of different users. Personally, I prefer mode 2.
The drone flies too high, too far and I don't know how to return, don't worry, click the landing button in the middle of the left to make the drone automatically return, of course, if you turn on the follow mode, you can also let the drone descend in the current flight position. In addition, if the aircraft loses contact, we can also set the relevant settings through the aircraft loss in the safety settings, which have three modes for selection: return, landing and hovering.
Thanks to the blessing of GPS + GLONASS + Galileo + Beidou 4 global navigation and positioning systems. The positioning accuracy of the Botan ATOM UAV is not to be said, the author has tried to take off at a point many times, and then landed after flying for more than ten minutes, and the position of each landing is basically within half a meter of the positioning point. Flying too far, the drone signal is lost, or flying too intoxicated, not paying attention to the power of the drone is a situation that newcomers often encounter when flying drones. With the blessing of low battery return mode and lost contact return mode, users do not have to worry about the above problems at all.
Three flight modes unlock a variety of usage needs
Thanks to the 4300KV brushless motor configuration, the take-off speed of the ATOM drone is very fast. In Sport mode, it only takes 2.8 seconds to accelerate to 16 m/s. In sport mode, the ascent speed can reach 5 m/s, the descent speed can reach 4 m/s, and the horizontal flight speed can reach up to 16 m/s.
In terms of flight mode, the Botan ATOM drone has a normal mode and a photography mode in addition to the sports mode. In normal mode, it rises by 4 m/s, decreases by 3 m/s, and horizontally reaches 10 m/s, while in photographic mode, it rises by 2 m/s, decreases by 2 m/s, and levels are 6 m/s. In terms of wind resistance, it supports up to 5 levels of wind resistance. In addition, it can also achieve normal take-off at an altitude of 4,000 meters, and the flight altitude can reach up to 800 meters, but please strictly follow the latest 120-meter flight altitude restriction requirements.
For those of you who like photography, I take off in sport mode, then use the fast maneuverability of sport mode to approach the subject or find the material I want to shoot, and then find a suitable position and turn on the photography mode for stable and accurate photography. This saves a lot of time and increases the range of our single battery. Of course, if you just want to fly and see the scenery, then the sports mode or normal mode is always on.
Photography and photo experience
The image transmission of the ATOM drone is a self-developed PixSync 3.0 digital video transmission system, which can achieve a distance transmission of up to 6km, although it is not as good as DJI, but this distance is definitely enough for ordinary users. With a 6km video transmission combined with a 12-million-pixel SONY camera, this drone can provide us with a very good shooting experience.
Whether it is video or photography, in addition to the default automatic mode, the Botan ATOM drone also supports manual parameter settings, including white balance, shutter, ISO, exposure compensation, etc. For those who like to shoot the morning and sunset, this manual setting is very good, allowing users to shoot the most beautiful skyline.
As far as the photo experience is concerned, the Botan ATOM drone performs well, after all, it supports RAW output, and the later operability is still very large. It also supports time-lapse shooting, so we can set the shooting time according to our needs, then take a set of photos in a fixed position and then make a beautiful time-lapse video, which is very good for users who shoot landscapes.
In terms of video recording, Botan ATOM UAV supports up to 1080P 60FPS, 2.7K30FPS and 4K30FPS and other frame rate shooting, if it can support 4K60 frame rate here, I personally think the experience will be much better, I don't know if it can be achieved through upgrades in the later stage.
We can quickly record videos with the shoulder buttons of the handle. But what should I do if the video is not good-looking, not stable enough, and has no features? Botan ATOM drone has built-in video style modes such as orbiting, cupola, fading, comet, spiraling, etc., each mode has a GIF demonstration, so that users can know the gameplay of this mode at a glance. This is also the favorite way for novices like me to record videos. The image above is a capture of a GIF taken in surround mode. In addition to the fixed style mode, the Bigan ATOM drone also supports auto-tracking, just select the object you want to follow on the screen, and the drone will automatically follow the movement of people and vehicles. This function is also one of the most commonly used functions of the author, and I occasionally use it to shoot a short emotional video, which is beautiful.
In addition, in terms of zoom performance, it supports 2x zoom for photography, and 3x zoom can be achieved for video in 2.7K and 1080P mode, and 2x zoom in 4K mode. For those of us who want to shoot something special, zoom is much better than not being able to shoot at all, although it will lose image quality. In addition, the video zoom is also *1 and *2, and if it is designed to be a turntable to zoom in slowly, the effect will be more conducive to video recording.
