I just saw a video post, in which this person introduced Hua Luogeng as a genius by nature. I disagree with him 12 percent. I even think that blindly promoting him as a genius is a disparagement of Hua Luogeng, who has worked hard all his life.
Hua Luogeng is a big scientist I knew when I was in middle school. He is known as the "Father of Modern Chinese Mathematics" and is recognized as one of the few famous scientists in the international mathematical community. The reason why some people say that Hua Luogeng is a genius is just to see that he has not gone to college and is just an aspect of junior high school graduates.
Hua Luogeng does have this undeniable history, after graduating from junior high school, he dropped out of school because of his poor family and stayed at home to help his father sell groceries in the stall. Overemphasizing this point and thinking that he is a natural mathematical genius, Hua Luogeng will not agree. Because he ignored his superhuman perseverance, diligence and self-study, which is the most prominent and important aspect.
Hua Luogeng often said: "Wisdom lies in learning, and genius lies in accumulation." ...... The so-called genius actually depends on learning." Self-study in a race against time is the fundamental reason why Hua Luogeng, who has never gone to university, has become one of the most famous scientists at home and abroad.
I knew and understood Hua Luogeng shortly after I entered middle school in 1962 when I read that Hua Luogeng published a poem that year. And was deeply moved by his diligent and self-taught deeds, and set him up as an example for himself. His poem reads:
God is wonderfully reckoned with ancient nouns,
It is inherited from the predecessors.
Miraculous is frank,
The magic of facilitation is not enough to mention.
The trick comes from the clumsiness,
Yu Gong Zhi Su two separated.
Accumulate a long time to show foolishness and wisdom,
Only when you are white can you know that you are stunned.
Hard work is the first,
Skillful gives birth to a hundred ingenuity.
Diligence is a good training,
No hard work, no talent.
I remember reading his poems that moved my blood boiling. It is no exaggeration to say that the idea of Hua Luogeng's poem has been the guiding principle of my behavior to this day, including writing an essay every day now!
I returned to my hometown of Ji'an in April 2023 and gave an inspirational report to all teachers and students at my alma mater based on my study and work experience. It has played a role in deeply touching and inspiring my little alumni. I am also very honored to be appointed as the Honorary President for Life of my alma mater.
In this lecture, one of the important lessons I would like to warn young alumni is to read more biographies of famous scientists, including famous scientists. This is to cleanse one's soul, set a lifelong example, always motivate oneself to be diligent and motivated, and never relax in strict self-discipline...... In the end, it is one of the most effective ways to build one's excellent personality and contribute to society.
Finally, I will end my composition this morning with the four poems that best reflect the reason for Hua Luogeng's success:
