La Liga giants Real Madrid surpassed Manchester City in revenue in the 2022-23 season to become the football club with the highest total revenue that season, and commercial income has also become the club's largest source of income. This is the first time since 2017-18 that La Liga giants have topped the list in terms of revenue in a single season, with their total revenue last season reaching 831 million euros ($907.8 million), followed by Manchester City with 826 million euros and Paris (802 million euros).

Barcelona rose from 7th in the previous year's Deloitte Club revenue list to 4th place, with a revenue of 800 million euros. Premier League giants Manchester United slipped one place to 746 million euros, ranking fifth.

Real Madrid's revenue increased by 118 million euros compared to the previous year, with a 16% increase driven by a strong retail business, revenue from higher home attendance and a recovery in sponsorship revenue.

Although City lost the top spot they had held for the previous two years, they still managed to earn their highest single-season revenue in franchise history, largely thanks to their treble, which increased the team's broadcast revenue and commercial revenue. It was also the first time since the 2015-16 season that commercial revenue became the club's largest source of revenue, with the team's broadcast share increasing slightly by 5% if the pandemic-affected 2019-20 season was not included.

Liverpool were one of the most influential clubs in terms of competition earnings last year, rising from seventh to third place in that income. However, in terms of total revenue, the team has slipped and returned to 7th place, one of three clubs with a decline in revenue. Atletico Madrid and West Ham were also two other teams with declining revenues. The Premier League occupies eight of the top 20 spots in Deloitte's total revenue list, down from 11 the year before, after Leicester City, Leeds United and Everton were replaced by Eintracht Frankfurt, Napoli and Marseille.

For the entire 2022-23 season, the Money Club generated a whopping €10.5 billion, a 14% increase on the previous season and more than pre-pandemic levels (€9.2 billion in both 2021-22 and 2018-19).

Women's football

This is the second time that Deloitte has reported the revenue of women's football, with last season's Champions League winners Barcelona Women's Football Co., Ltd. topping the list with 13.4 million euros, up 74% from last year. This is followed by 8 million euros for Manchester United Women, 7.4 million euros for Real Madrid Women, 5.3 million euros for Manchester City Women and 5.3 million euros for Arsenal Women.

Amy Clark, Head of Women's Sports at Deloitte Sports, said: "The 2022-23 season saw significant financial growth in the top European women's football league." The increase in the number of sports matches also played a significant role in the revenue of the match day, and the number of spectators and business cooperation were also factors in the revenue growth. #Premier League##Real Madrid##Champions League##Women's ##Liverpool##Manchester United##英超联赛#
