Generally, healthy and full semi-mature branches of the year are selected as cuttings, 8~10 cm long, and 2 leaves are left at the apex. When cutting, the base should be as little old as possible, and it is easy to form a callus after cutting, and the hair roots are fast. The branches are relatively thick, so soak them in rooting powder for more than 10 minutes.

Osmanthus trees are believed to be found in most cities, roads, and communities in China, and are very excellent landscape trees. Osmanthus tree cuttings are divided into summer cuttings (May-June) and autumn cuttings (August-September), at this time the new shoots have stopped growing, and the semi-lignified branches of the year are selected for cuttings, these branches have more nutrients, strong meristem ability, and are easy to root.
The cuttings are cut into branches of about 8-10 cm, the upper branches are cut flat, 2 leaves are retained, half of the leaves are cut off, the base is cut into oblique mouths, and the cuttings are soaked in the rooting powder solution.
The optimal rooting temperature of osmanthus is 25 °C ~ 28 °C, if the temperature is too low, it should be covered with plastic film to increase the temperature of the seedbed by increasing light. If the temperature is too high, pay attention to shading, and lift the corner of the plastic film to ventilate or spray to cool down.
It is generally better to use plain sand, perlite or vermiculite as the medium for household cuttings.
