Towards the end of the year,
Cross-border sellers are becoming more and more frightened!
Recently, a freight forwarder broke the news that Amazon has announced the temporary closure of a number of US warehouses:
1. MDW2: Temporary closure, due to the impact of the snowstorm, the opening time of the position is unstable, and there is a risk of rejection;
2. MEM1, IND9, FWA4: Temporary closure and suspension, all appointments will be delayed in the future, and the opening time is undetermined;
3. MQJ1: Positions will be closed indefinitely from January 20, and the opening time is undecided.
FTW1 and CLT2 have slow unloading speeds, and the delivery time fluctuates by "2-3 days".
This also means that many sellers' goods will not be able to enter the warehouse smoothly, and may also cause further increase in logistics costs due to various unexpected circumstances.
And according to Amazon's new regulations:
For shipments created after February 1, 2024, 75 days are required for foreign shipments and 45 days for domestic shipments, and if the shipment does not comply with the policy, the shipment will be automatically closed.
Therefore, sellers have chosen to create shipments before February 1, and send out the goods before the Spring Festival holiday!
Although they know that extreme weather is a force majeure factor, sellers are inevitably anxious:
"A lot of my goods are sent to IND9, if it really closes, it will be over"
"In the same period last year, the blizzard, the FTW1 warehouse was closed for more than 3 months, and the inventory was directly banned, Amazon is too engaged"
"This year is not good, Chinese New Year's Eve have to worry about where my goods are"
Not only the U.S. market, but also the Canadian market is gradually being hit by extreme weather, so the delivery of some goods is inevitably affected.
It can be seen that the impact of the Red Sea situation on the global supply chain has not been completely eliminated, and due to the impact of extreme weather, sellers are currently facing problems such as rising freight rates, shipping schedule delays, space shortages, and product arrival delays.
In the face of the risk of Spring Festival delivery, sellers had better pay attention to logistics dynamics in real time, keep in touch with freight forwarders at any time, verify the delivery date from multiple parties, and make alternative plans to plan transportation plans reasonably.
In addition, in order to reduce logistics fluctuations, sellers can consider combining third-party overseas warehouse delivery to make sufficient logistics alternatives to ensure the smooth progress of orders.
