Schubert

1. Biography Introduction

Schubert was born in Hitanthal, a suburb of Vienna, the son of a small-town headmaster and a mother who was a servant before her marriage. At a young age, his father discovered Schubert's musical talent and taught him to play the violin himself, and asked his eldest son to teach him to play the piano.

When Schubert was 7 years old, his father hired teachers to teach him organ and vocal music, and Schubert developed his musical attainments by leaps and bounds with his talent and good education. At the age of 11, Schubert became the first tenor of the church and began his education at the Royal Theological Seminary in Vienna and learned to compose.

In 1810, Schubert's Rhapsody in G major was his first work to be marked with an exact date, when he was only 13 years old.

In 1812, he wrote "Young Man by the Pond", based on Schiller's poem, which is considered to be the first truly artistic song he composed.

In 1813, Schubert completed his first symphony.

In the same year, Schubert returned to his father's school and worked as a teacher for three years, during which time he composed some famous art songs such as "Margaret by the Spinning Wheel", "The Demon King", "Death and the Maiden", etc.

Second, the road of love

Introverted and shy, Schubert never married, living with the camaraderie of friends and music, but he also had unforgettable love experiences.

Schubert was in love with Theresa, the daughter of a wealthy widow who ran a textile factory, and this was the first love of his life, and arguably the only real love in his life. Despite Schubert's sincere affection for her, Theresa eventually marries someone else. Schubert, who lost his beloved, once let himself go and lived a prodigal life.

Schubert's life was full of creativity, but illness and poverty still took his life prematurely. Schubert is said to have been battling syphilis since 1822, but eventually died in 1828 at the age of 31.

According to his last wishes, he was buried next to the tomb of Beethoven, whom he worshipped.
