According to a message posted on social media on January 23, 2024, Han Suguang, Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology and Innovation of Cambodia, after the Lunar New Year, Chinese tourists, Chinese investors, and American companies in China will come to Cambodia for tourism and investment.
The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Chinese Government have designated 2024 as the Cambodia-China Year of People-to-People Exchanges, aiming to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, promote tourism development, and provide opportunities for investors and businessmen to travel, learn from each other and understand each other. In addition, the influx of Chinese tourists will effectively promote the further development of Cambodia's tourism industry.
As Cambodia's largest source of foreign direct investment, Chinese investors cover major sectors such as finance, manufacturing, real estate, hospitality, agriculture, hydropower and construction. Chinese investment has played an important role in Cambodia's economic and social development and poverty alleviation, creating hundreds of thousands of local jobs.
