Ryzen 7 8700G CPU performance score exposed!70% increase in single-core, 64% increase in multi-core

On January 8, AMD officially announced the Ryzen 8000 series APU processors, but the official launch time will not be until January 31. We must wait until after this day for the third-party performance evaluation to come out, and I believe that many friends are very anxious.

The following editor will share the performance evaluation of the two processors, Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G, but only includes the evaluation of the CPU performance part.

Although for the Ryzen 8000 series APU processor, everyone is most concerned about its GPU graphics performance, but its CPU performance is also worth paying attention to,—— GPU graphics performance is very strong, but the CPU performance can not be too stretched, only in this way, Ryzen 8000 series APU processors are worth starting.

For example, how big is the CPU performance gap between the Ryzen 7 8700G and the Ryzen 5 8600G and other Ryzen 7000 series siblings?

Recently, the Geekbench platform scores of the Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G processors have been exposed, and there are preliminary answers to these questions.

Specifically, the Ryzen 7 8700G achieves a single-core performance score of 2720 and a multi-core performance score of 14326, see Figure 2, and the Ryzen 5 8600G achieves a single-core performance score of 2474 and a multi-core performance score of 11453, see Figure 3.

For reference, the Ryzen 7 7700 achieves a single-core performance score of 2845 and a multi-core performance score of 14692. The Ryzen 7 5700G has a single-core performance score of 1981 and a multi-core performance score of 8737, while the Ryzen 5 5600G has a single-core performance score of 1917 and a multi-core performance score of 7662.

As can be seen from the above scores, the single-core performance and multi-core performance of the Ryzen 7 8700G are not far behind the Ryzen 7 7700, only 4.6% and 2.6% lower respectively, which is basically negligible.

In addition, compared to the previous generation Ryzen 7 5700G, the Ryzen 7 8700G's single-core performance and multi-core performance are 70.2% and 64%, respectively, a huge lead.

Compared to the Ryzen 5 5600G, the Ryzen 5 8600G's single-core performance and multi-core performance are 29.1% and 49.8% ahead, respectively, and the lead is also very significant.

So, how much difference is the CPU performance between the Ryzen 5 8600G and the Ryzen 7 8700G? The answer is that the single-core performance is 9.9% lower and the multi-core performance is 25.1% lower.

It can be seen that the CPU performance of the Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G is not bad, it is a huge improvement over the previous generation, and the launch price is lower than the previous generation (see the image above), and the Ryzen 7 5700G and Ryzen 5 5600G are now completely unworthy.

Although the overall installation cost is much higher, in the long run, it is best to choose a new platform to start with Ryzen 8000 series APU processors, AM5 motherboards and DDR5 memory.
