The 2024 Spring Festival will kick off on January 26, and train tickets for the Spring Festival will go on sale soon. According to the current ticket presale rules, train tickets for Chinese New Year's Eve (February 9) can be purchased on the same day. Judging from the pattern of previous years, this Wednesday and Thursday Spring Festival train tickets will enter the peak period of ticket sales.
When you buy your pre-holiday train tickets, don't forget to buy your return tickets in advance. According to the current ticket pre-sale rules, return train tickets for the holiday on February 17 (the eighth day of the first lunar month) will go on sale on February 3.

You can buy a sleeper ticket and choose a berth online
When passengers purchase sleeper tickets on the railway 12306 website and app, they can choose their own berths online for soft sleepers, hard sleepers for ordinary speed trains, and soft sleepers for EMUs, first-class sleepers, and second-class sleepers.
Seniors over 60 years old are given priority to lower bunks
If there are enough tickets, the system will automatically identify elderly passengers over 60 years old and give priority to the lower berths. If multiple people are traveling with one order, the system will also automatically assign adjacent berths.
