The all-new BMW 5 Series will be launched on January 25
On January 22, BMW officially announced the power information of the new BMW 5 Series. The new car adopts the latest family design language, and is the fourth time that the BMW Group has tailored the 5 Series model for the Chinese market. It is reported that the new car will be officially launched on January 25. The all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase rolled off the production line at BMW's Shenyang Dadong Plant.
The BMW 5 Series is equipped with an excitation synchronous motor, a ninth-generation lateral dynamics management system, and a second-generation integrated braking system. The BMW i5 is equipped with the fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric drive system. Compared with the permanent magnet synchronous motor, the excitation synchronous motor is self-developed by BMW, and the peak power can be continuously and not attenuated, which can make the vehicle show superior acceleration performance in the full speed range, especially in the medium and high speed sections. The electric brush module adopts an exclusive and innovative design and is made of high-tech composite materials, with a service life of up to 300,000 kilometers. The highly integrated motor controller maintains a highly precise control strategy even at peak performance.
At the start, the powertrain reacts within 100 milliseconds. When overtaking other vehicles, the user can activate the Boost function at any time via the paddles for an additional 30 Nm of torque output in an instant. The driver can also freely select the driving mode through the My Modes theme mode, each of which not only changes the atmosphere of the car, such as ambient lighting, air conditioning volume, etc., but also adjusts the power delivery characteristics, steering feel and chassis response.
The new car adopts the second-generation integrated braking system, which controls the braking system through electrical signals to further enhance the pedal force feedback and the sense of communication between people and vehicles. The system takes only 150 milliseconds to build up pressure at full braking, which is four times faster than conventional braking systems, and the braking distance can be reduced by up to 20 percent, further improving safety.
The all-new BMW 5 Series is equipped with the ninth-generation lateral dynamics management system, which monitors the vehicle's dynamic parameters through sensors, analyzes and predicts the vehicle's next dynamics, and then accurately and stably calls the chassis systems at critical moments.
The new car is also equipped with a further optimized double wishbone double ball joint front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, which can respond quickly to road bumps and provide more stable directional direction, taking into account the flexibility of handling and ride comfort. As an all-electric model, the innovative all-electric BMW i5 chassis has been further structurally strengthened, such as metal reinforcements for the front subframe with increased front rigidity, aluminum alloy rear subframe for increased body strength, and air suspension for rear axle applications, which fully meet the needs for sporty performance and comfort. The all-new BMW 5 Series also features an electric power steering system with variable steering ratio.
The all-new BMW 5 Series features an attention monitoring system and a capacitive-sensing steering wheel. The all-new BMW 5 Series is equipped with an automatic lane change function with gaze checking, which enables the vehicle to automatically overtake at speeds between 60 and 180 km/h when the driver's gaze is confirmed.
