Once upon a time, there was often a forest of trees planted on the edge of the camphor forest.

After many years of absence from her hometown, Zheng Fengna, executive director of the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Friendship Association and president of the Chaole Club of the Chao ren overseas friendship association, will also dream that when she was young, every Mid-Autumn Festival, she and her brothers and sisters picked the forest together.

Lin Dan, also known as "cherimoya", is said to have been brought back to the homeland by overseas Chinese in Thailand and planted and propagated to this day. In Chaoshan architecture, there are also gray sculptures, wood carvings and murals that appear in the image of Lin Zhen, replacing the traditional pomegranate, implying that there are many descendants and sages.

Lin Dan, also known as "cherimoya", is said to have been brought back to the homeland by overseas Chinese in Thailand and planted and propagated to this day.

Nowadays, Lin Zhen has become a touch of nostalgia, haunted by the dreams of many overseas Chinese and overseas Chinese.

On September 27th, the 2021 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival and Zhanglin Linqiao Cultural Tourism Festival in Chenghai District, Shantou City was held in Zhanglin Ancient Port, and Linzhen was combined with cultural creativity and calligraphy for the first time.

Coming from Thailand to take root in camphor forests

In the Qianlong edition of the "Chronicle of Chenghai County", there is the earliest record of Lin Zhen. "Lin Zhen, the tree is like a tree, there are two kinds of water forest and honey forest, there is no apple in the south, and the forest is enough to replace it"

Zheng Fengna told reporters that the more popular saying among locals is that more than 200 years ago, Ye Mingtai, an overseas Chinese from Thailand in The Dongshe (now Donghe Village Committee) of Zhanglin Township, brought back seeds from Thailand and planted them in the "back ditch" of Zhanglin, witnessing a history of Sino-Thai cultural exchanges.

Zheng Fengna recalled that when she was a child, every family had a little land, and planted one or two forest trees in their own fields. Every year around the time of the Qingming Dynasty, the tree grows new leaves and then blooms, "that flower is very beautiful, the flower is pale yellowish green, and it is a bit like an eagle's claw." As soon as Zheng Fengna looked at the flowers after school, she didn't know how to plant them, that is, she wanted to water them.

Autumn is the season of ripening, the ripe fruit is heart-shaped, and the peel consists of 30-40 nodular scales. When the forest was first picked, it was verdant and relatively hard.

"Many foreign friends don't know how to eat, thinking they want to take it and cook it!" Zheng Fengna laughed and said that whenever she gave it to her friends, she always had to worry, so she quickly told her one phone call after another, "I have to wait for Lin Yu to transform into ripe fruit, the outer skin is somewhat black, and it becomes soft before it can be eaten." ”

Fruit growers pick woods.

In the afternoon daylight, gently break open, the flesh is sweet and sticky, warm as cream, the seeds are black as lacquer, generally 1 fruit contains 30-60 seeds. "When we were naughty when we were young, we used to take these seeds and play games in different ways." Zheng Fengna still remembers that at that time, there were many children at the beginning and end of cuo, everyone gathered together, ate the lin, washed the fruit seeds, sprinkled on the ground, and then each of them took a cardboard and folded it into a "small dustpan" style, counting "three two one", to see who had more seeds at one time, even if who won.

At that time, the time was very long, and the children were innocent and innocent, playing like this, and unconsciously growing up like this. Later, Zheng Fengna left her hometown to work in the Chenghai Chao Troupe, and then she was farther away from home, and those memories were gone.

Bring rich economic value to the local area

Camphor forest produces the best quality of its pulp.

On the same day, the reporter came to the Zhanglin Jingzai Spring and visited the first farmers' cooperative in Shantou City specializing in the cultivation of Camphor Forest, the Rongjie Linqi Planting Professional Cooperative in Chenghai District, Shantou City. Wu Shaorong, head of the cooperative, told reporters that the oldest trees here are hundreds of years old.

The leader in charge of Nongkou in Dongli Town told reporters that the Camphor Forest Piece in Dongli Town, Chenghai District, is located in the Hanjiang Delta, and the soil has accumulated a variety of trace elements of shells, and the unique climate and soil are very suitable for the growth of forest oaks, and the quality of the forest pots produced is superior, which is not available in other production areas.

In addition, local fruit growers have also accumulated mature forest cultivation techniques. Wu Shaorong told reporters that when the forest blossoms, it is necessary to manually use a brush to pass the pollen of the male flower to the female flower, so that the fruit is relatively large. "This is due to the fact that the time difference between male and female flowers is only 24 hours, and most pollen cannot be transmitted through natural media, relying on artificial scientific assistance." Wu Shaorong said.

"We also wrap each lind in thin sandbags that are both breathable and insect-proof." Wu Shaorong said.

Before the Mid-Autumn Festival, every year during the ripening period of linqi, many fruit farmers will independently gather on both sides of the road at the Zhanglin Triangle point in Dongli Town to form a linqi wholesale market, fresh linqi basket after basket, fill both sides of the road, shouting, horns continuously, the flow of people is bustling, it is not lively!

The market price of Lin Dan has continued to rise this year, and the reporter saw at the scene that the average price of the Lin Dan market is 10 yuan to 20 yuan per kilogram. "The price is the highest before the Mid-Autumn Festival, the price can reach 35 yuan / catty, and the largest single fruit can reach about one kilogram." Lin Chejia, deputy director of the Agricultural Water Conservancy Service Center of Dongli Town, said.

At present, the planting area of Dongli Town is more than 4,000 mu, distributed in the hillside land and garden land of Zhanglin Area, and the villages of Beilian, Hemei, Xinlong, Donghe, Nanshe, Tangxi and other villages are the main production areas, with an annual output of more than 5,000 tons and an output value of more than 100 million yuan.

Every time around the Mid-Autumn Festival, Wu Shaorong's family is busier. In addition to being busy with the harvest, the lin dan had to be packed into boxes for easy transport. According to the leader in charge of Nongkou in Dongli Town, since 1994, about 70% of the forest in Zhanglin has been sold to the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong every year, and 30% to the Chaoshan area.

"Nowadays, relying on the e-commerce platform and the maturity of transportation technology, it has solved the problem of Lin's intolerance to transportation and preservation." Lin Chejia told reporters that at present, through the national air transport, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places can be delivered in 1 day, and Beijing, Shanghai and other places can arrive in 2 days, which also accelerates the pace of Lin's culture "going out".

Become a certificate for overseas Chinese to find their roots

Lin's scientific name is "Cherimoya", which is inseparable from the Chaoshan overseas Chinese culture.

Professor Lin Lunlun, chairman of the Academic Committee of the International Society for the Study of Chaoshan Dialects and a well-known scholar of Chaoshan dialect research and dissemination, mentioned in his article "Talking about the Fun of Words at the Beginning of the "Fan" Character" that in the past, the Chaoshan people went abroad to make a living was called "over", and the word "pass" was probably the "pass" of "crossing the ocean", and the arduous process of nine dead and wild winds and waves, sun and rain was like this to understate the word "pass". Things imported from foreign countries are basically prefixed with the word "fan".

In the article "A Brief Discussion on the Influence of Overseas Chinese on Chaoshan Culture" by Cai Jinhe, another researcher of Chaoshan culture, it is mentioned that many crops were imported from abroad, and the scientific name of Lychee was introduced from Thailand. The article also mentions that pineapples, commonly known as "pears", were also imported from Thailand by Chaoshan overseas Chinese. Most of these imported crops from abroad should be named with the word "fan", such as sweet potato, papaya, tomato, guava and so on.

Xie Qiongying, member of the Dongli Town CPC Committee and chairman of the Women's Federation, said frankly that the purpose of holding the Zhanglin Linqiu Cultural Tourism Festival this time is to inherit and disseminate the culture of overseas Chinese in Linyang.

"It's no wonder lin carries too many stories. The taste of Lin Tan is full of unique hometowns, childhoods, and even traces of subtle or profound life events. Zheng Fengna said.

Qin Mu, a famous prose master in Zhanglin, only hung two paintings in his home before his death, one of which was Mr. Cai Yangyan's painting of Lin Yangyan's "Fruitful Results". The lin in the painting, the brilliant green and goose yellow, is really the water spirit is lovely, and emits a seductive fragrance, which is particularly vivid. Often hanging at home, buried deep in the heart is that extraordinarily deep and inseparable feelings.

Xie Qiongying told reporters that over the years, Lin Zhen, as the bearer of nostalgia, has appeared in poetry creation many times. For example: "Where to taste the best fruit, the lotus mountain is out of the forest, the bud petals are sweet as honey, and the fragrance is unique and homely." "Takada looked at Qingchen, the green jade was invaded with fat and white dew, and after the alliance under the tree broke up, the hometown thoughts came to Lin Tan day by day."

"In the poet's pen, the poems are given to Lin Yu, just to talk about homesickness. Nowadays, with the development of science and technology, LinYang culture is no longer limited by geography, can be known to more people, and is also looking forward to the future can become a symbol for more hipsters at home and abroad to find their roots. Zheng Fengna said.
