Located in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, Nanga Bhava Peak is the confluence of the Himalayas, the Nianqing Tanggula Mountains and the Hengduan Mountains, and is the highest peak in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, with an altitude of 7,782 meters, belonging to the Himalayas, located in the easternmost part of the Himalayas.
Nanga Bhava Peak is the holy place of the oldest Buddhist "Yongzhong Sect" in Tibet, and is known as the "Father of Tibetan Mountains". At the same time, the adjacent Brahmaputra Grand Canyon made a horseshoe-shaped bend around him, and then extended in the direction of the Indian Ocean. Nanga Bhava Peak is also known as "Muzhubar Mountain", its huge triangular peak body is covered with snow all year round, clouds and mist, and never easily reveals its true face, so it is also known as "Shame Girl Peak".
There are various interpretations in Tibetan for Nanga Bhava, one for "thunder and lightning burning like fire", one for "a spear piercing the sky", and one for "a stone falling from the heavenly mountains". The latter name comes from the "Battle of Menling" in the Biography of King Gesar, in which the Nanga Bhava Peak is depicted as "like a spear, piercing the sky".
Nanga Bhava Peak is located at the confluence of the Hengduan Mountains, the Himalayas and the Ninqing Tanggula Mountains, and the Yarlung Zangbo River is sandwiched by the Galabailei Peak on the opposite bank, forming the world's largest canyon - the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. During the period of geological movement, the earth's crust was greatly fractured and uplifted, which made the topography and landform of this area extremely complex, and the natural ecology was peculiar.
Due to the complex geological structure and steep terrain, Nanga Bhava Peak is extremely difficult to climb, and has long been regarded as a "virgin peak" that has not been climbed by humans. It was not until October 30, 1992 that the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering team successfully reached the summit of Nanga Bhava.
The magnificent scenery and mysterious legends of Nanga Bhava attract numerous tourists and mountaineering enthusiasts. It has been voted one of the most beautiful peaks in China and one of the most challenging mountaineering goals in the world.
