Agriculture is the foundation of the XPCC's development and plays an important role in ensuring food security. In order to maximize the benefits of every inch of land and promote the high-quality development of agriculture, all divisions of the XPCC have thoroughly implemented the strategy of "storing grain on the ground and storing grain in technology", and increased grain production through measures such as promoting the use of microbial agents and building water conservancy projects.
Microbial diversity is the key to maintaining soil health, and Wujiaqu City, the Sixth Division of the XPCC, introduced Xinjiang Aerospace Zhaofeng Technology Co., Ltd. to explore this. Zhou Hailong, general manager of the company, introduced: "We use new technologies to screen and cultivate excellent new varieties, and develop and produce highly concentrated microbial agents and compound microbial fertilizers, which can solve the problems of single excessive application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, soil compaction, salinization, drug residues, and lack of biodiversity in the division, and realize the transformation of farmland into fertile land." ”
After the application of microbial inoculants to winter wheat in Qitai Farm of the Sixth Division, during the summer harvest last year, experts measured and accepted the high-yield winter wheat demonstration field of the farm, and the results showed that the average yield per mu of the local 100 mu demonstration square was 818.69 kg, the average yield per mu of the 1,000-mu demonstration square was 787.74 kg, and the average yield per mu of the 10,000-mu demonstration plot was 738 kg, and the three indicators ranked first in the country.
Grain production is fundamentally in cultivated land, and the lifeblood is in water conservancy. Located at the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, the Kuitun River undertakes the tasks of agricultural irrigation, domestic water and industrial water for the Seventh Division of the Corps, and is affectionately known as the "Mother River" by the locals. In winter, the ice in the Kuitun River is getting thicker and thicker, and if it is not broken in time, it will block the channel, causing the canal to overflow and lose control. Generation after generation of XPCC personnel have used their lives to govern, protect, and rejuvenate the river, ensuring the smooth flow of the Kuitun River and ensuring the irrigation water of the peasants along the line.
In June 2020, the Kuitun River water diversion project started construction in full swing, with a total construction period of 56 months. Gao Jianhua, deputy secretary of the party committee of the Kuitun River Water Diversion Project Construction Administration, said that after the project is completed and brought into play its benefits, there will be no need for winter ice, and the problem of seasonal agricultural water shortage in the Kuitun River basin will be effectively solved, and the local agricultural irrigation guarantee rate will be increased from 46.4 percent to 75.0 percent; and the water quality will also be improved, so that the damage to water-saving drip irrigation and other agricultural irrigation equipment and downstream water conservancy facilities such as trunk canals, branch canals, and bucket canals will be reduced.
Cultivate characteristic industries and promote the integrated development of military and local communities
In recent years, the XPCC has deepened reforms, actively promoted the integration of local key industrial enterprises into agriculture and other advantageous industries, improved the level of modern agricultural development, provided support for regional economic development, and promoted the integrated development of military and local industries.
Xinfa Group Xinjiang Company is located in Wujiaqu City, the Sixth Division of the XPCC, and used to be mainly engaged in aluminum production and power plant power generation. In 2023, the company will actively integrate into the characteristic and advantageous industries of the Corps, begin to develop agriculture, plan to build 192 winter warming greenhouses, develop 1,200 acres of wasteland in the first phase of the project, and 96 greenhouses have been built and put into use.
Walking into the greenhouse, the warm wind blowing in your face makes you forget the cold in an instant. In the greenhouse, rows of strawberry seedlings are neatly arranged on the shelves, many strawberries have already hung fruit, and bees fly around from time to time. According to reports, the three-dimensional planting mode is adopted in the shed, and the land utilization rate is 94%, which is about 6 times the output of the ordinary planting mode.
Yang Guanggang, a staff member in charge of planting management, was previously a production manager at an aluminum plant, but switched to agriculture in August 2023. Yang Guanggang said: "The state supports the development of agriculture, and the company also vigorously develops agriculture. One more craft means one more path, so I volunteered to learn Xi planting management, and there are many employees in the company who have changed careers from industry to agriculture like me. ”
Qi Xiangfeng, deputy general manager of Xinfa Group's Xinjiang company, said that the company sends waste heat from the power plant to the shed as a "heater" The use can save more than 7,000 tons of coal every year; the wall of the greenhouse is made of aerated blocks pressed from the waste residue of the power plant, and the thermal insulation effect of the 1.2-meter-thick wall made of aerated blocks is equivalent to the 10-meter-thick earthen wall; there are more saline-alkali land in the local area, and a certain proportion of cinder is mixed into the soil in the greenhouse, which can increase the air permeability of the soil and make it more suitable for planting crops; the carbon dioxide gas of the power plant is collected and put into the shed, which can promote the growth of crops and realize the pattern of complementary and common development of industry and agriculture.
Industrial integration plays a unique role in strengthening the connection between the military and the local government and breaking down the barriers between regions. Qi Xiangfeng said that he hoped that through agricultural products, the fruit and vegetable processing industry, transportation industry, catering industry, and tourism in the surrounding areas would be driven, and the interconnection between the military and the local government in terms of industrial integration and urbanization construction would be further deepened, and the integrated development of the military and local areas would be promoted.

In recent years, in order to explore new growth points for economic development, the XPCC has relied on ice and snow resources to strengthen the construction of ice and snow activity venues, and strengthened the holding of ice and snow activities to meet the leisure needs of the masses for ice and snow sports, so that snow can be exchanged for "silver".
