Recently, a large number of Chinese students have been interrogated for a long time when entering the United States, and even their visas have been cancelled, and they cannot enter the United States within five years. When will the United States' blatant abuse of national security to arbitrarily suppress other countries end?
In response to the long-term interrogation and visa cancellation of Chinese students entering the United States, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded: China is strongly dissatisfied with this and resolutely opposes it!
Wang Wenbin also mentioned that in the past few months, on average, dozens of Chinese personnel going to the United States, including Chinese students, have been forcibly repatriated by the United States every month. Driven by political objectives, the US has long interrogated, persecuted, detained, coerced, induced, and even repatriated Chinese students with valid documents and visas.
In fact, this is not the first time that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to questions about the unreasonable detention, interrogation, and repatriation of students in the United States. In 2023 alone, China has lodged solemn representations with the US side at least twice in February and August.
Since 2020, the Trump administration has wrongly enacted and implemented Executive Order 10043, which allows the United States to deny visas to Chinese students and conduct interrogations of them in disregard of their privacy. And the Biden administration continued this executive order after taking office.
The U.S. side even claimed that the repatriated students were sponsored by China to "steal" emerging technologies and key technologies in the U.S., and then returned to China to improve China's military capabilities. However, this is only a unilateral inference and speculation by the US side, and there is no substantive evidence at all.
It is reported that most of the Chinese students who have been denied visas or questioned are mostly from universities such as "Seven Sons of National Defense", such as Beihang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Western University of Technology. Despite the lack of any evidence, the US side still insists that these schools are related to the PLA. In addition, many students who plan to go to the United States to further their studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics have also been questioned or subjected to infringement of random inspection of mobile phones and social media accounts.
What is even more outrageous is that some students were forcibly repatriated by the United States because of the military training photos stored in their mobile phones.
The United States deprived these Chinese students of their right to education on a trumped-up charge. In the past, the United States attracted many of the world's top talents to serve it with an open and inclusive attitude, but now, in the name of protecting national security, they have closed themselves off and refused to engage in open scientific and technological exchanges with other countries, especially unjustifiably suppressing Chinese students.
On the one hand, they talk about strengthening exchanges with China, but on the other hand, they undermine normal educational and academic exchanges. Let me ask, is this the concept of "science without borders" as the American population claims to be?
