That night, after Jia and her husband Wang confessed their criminal acts, the two reached an agreement on what Jia said, "If it doesn't work, there will be another one later", so they drove the child's body away from the house and buried it in another place.
After the incident, Jia was placed on file for investigation, and Wang deliberately gave false testimony to shield Jia when the investigating agency collected evidence from him. Soon after, both husband and wife were detained.

According to Jia, when her son was born, her husband was detained for driving without a license, and her son was taken away by her in-laws who had been straining with her a few days after he was born; when she was sent back, she felt that her son's eyes looked like her mother-in-law, and she couldn't help but be full of resentment towards her son.
