In an inconspicuous corner of the small county town, a historic site was discovered...

author:Enlightened Today
On the way home, I came across a section of the road that I usually walk, where some fruit vendors usually pull up plastic sheds to sell fruits, but today I found a blocked entrance behind it. I was curious for a while, and when I went in to take a look, I found that there was a hole in it.

When you enter the entrance, you are greeted by a garden with only a few stone carvings. It seems that no one usually comes here, and the huge garden is empty.

Mysterious Garden

Pedestrians passing by were in a hurry, and few glanced to the side. It's like a secret garden, and I'm proud to have found it. Looking around the garden, the white lime on the fence wall is peeling off and mottled, and the original red stone carvings have become gray and covered with moss. What is this place?

A few steps further, I saw an inconspicuous stone tablet with only three words engraved on it:

Ancient Fortéments.

Ancient Fort Stone Monument

So, this is the remains of an ancient fort?

In history, Qionglai has had several battles. One was the "Battle of Qiongzhou", which took place in the first year of Dashun in the Tang Dynasty, but it is a little far away from now. There was also a liberation campaign, which took place in the last century. Except for a few stone carvings and a stone tablet engraved with the words "Ancient Fort", there is no other introduction, and there is no way to know the history of this ancient fort. But near this garden, there is a "Longxing Temple Ruins", which was also built in the Tang Dynasty. They are so close that one can't help but wonder if they're connected. Was it the temple built for blessings after the Battle of Qiongzhou, or was it something else?

A large tree next to the sculpture of the casemate

The big tree in the garden is intertwined, but it also seems so small in the face of history. Perhaps only this land can tell the people and things of the past, and only it is the witness of history.
