In an interview with Global News, he said: "We're trying to figure out how such outrageous and stupid things can be done to our Christmas tree. ”
"It takes a lot of courage to do this. ”
Ontario police said the hoax was spotted just after 11 p.m. on Saturday. The investigation is ongoing, and police are looking for witnesses or others with first-hand clues.
"We have a lot of cameras in the city center," the mayor said, "and hopefully they will be caught and prosecuted and justice will be served." ”
On Sunday morning, city workers cleaned up the site and removed the Christmas tree.

The city of Kenora is located 200 kilometres east of Winnipeg and the Main Street Christmas tree has been a town tradition for decades. The mayor said that when road works were carried out a few years ago, the tree was kept in mind and that a hydroelectric power facility was built to ensure that the tree would shine in the city center every year.
