In an inconspicuous village in Poland, on February 24, 1929, Zisław Beksinski came into the world. His childhood was spent in the smoke of war, and the years of artillery fire delayed his studies, but it did not stop his love and pursuit of art. In the world of art, he is at ease, creating surrealist works with his unbridled imagination. Still, the modern audience seems unprepared for his imagination, and his paintings are often labelled as fearful in terms of low sales.
Just when Becksinski was limited to his elusive paintings, an unexpected car accident changed the course of his life forever. In that disaster, he suffered a cardiac arrest for up to ten minutes. And when he awoke from that darkness, he claimed to have seen hell.
After cardiac resuscitation, Beksinski seems to have brought back the imprint of another world. His style of painting took an extreme turn, and he began to paint the scene he saw in those ten minutes—a world full of weirdness and horror. These works are more disturbing than his previous paintings, but again, they are not well received by the market, and few people are willing to hang them in their homes, which makes Beksinski's name even more shamy.
Personal tragedies ensued. In 1998, Bexsinski lost his beloved wife who had been with him for many years, and the shadow of grief has not yet dissipated, and his son chose to end his life by suicide. This series of blows almost destroyed him, and Beksinski's heart was covered with deep grief and despair.
And on February 22, 2005, the artist, who had suffered a lot of life, came to the end of his life. He was brutally murdered in his studio by the son of a painter. With more than a dozen stab wounds on his body, it is as if the scene in his painting became a reality. And some say that it was this negative energy that eventually led him to heaven.
Bexinski's life was full of drama and tragedy, and his works and experiences provoked reflections on life and death, art, psychology and the paranormal. The so-called "hell" he experienced in the car accident has not been scientifically verified, but it has become an introduction for people to explore the boundaries of consciousness and the mysteries of life and death.
