Health is the wish of each of us, but we are always prone to various uncertain factors around us, resulting in us being easily threatened by diseases, not only the often said diseases from the mouth, even our clothing is likely to become the object of disease, so that health problems are pushed to the forefront again.

In recent years, with people's close attention to health issues, the truth about some substandard products dressed in health has gradually become known to the world, and some of them are about the discussion of "toxic clothes".

In 2005, the National Textile and Apparel Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center conducted a random inspection of 20 well-known brands in the Pearl River Delta, and the results attracted great attention. After testing 1,051 samples, it was found that some of them contained the carcinogen "benzidine", and one sample exceeded the standard by more than 190 times, which is very worrying.

After this news came out, it immediately aroused widespread attention and discussion in the society. This has been continuously reported in the media, reminding consumers to be vigilant and avoid buying clothing products that may contain carcinogens. Major brands also responded, saying that they would increase supervision and quality control to ensure product safety.

However, over the years, the problem has not been resolved, although the attention of society to carcinogenic clothing has declined. In 2019, the Shanghai Municipal Supervision Department conducted random inspections of luxury clothing, skirts and silk clothing on the market, and the results were shocking.

A decomposable carcinogen, aromatic amine dye, was detected in one of the dresses. This discovery has once again set off a storm because it means that the problem of carcinogenic clothing has not been effectively controlled and solved.

The media began to conduct in-depth investigation and coverage of the newly discovered carcinogenic garment, revealing an even more grim situation. What has attracted much attention is that in October 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation launched a new round of random inspections.

During this random inspection, it was found that the clothing produced by a fashion women's clothing company in Shenzhen contained benzidine, a carcinogenic aromatic amine dye, and the standard was very serious. After actual testing, the carcinogenic aromatic amine dye of this fashionable women's clothing is as high as 540 mg per kilogram, which is 27 times more than the standard. This astonishing statistic is deeply shocking and worrying.

In the same random inspection operation, denim vests produced by a company in Dongguan were also found to contain carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes exceeding the standard value, reaching 30 milligrams per kilogram. These sampling results show that the problem of carcinogenic clothing still exists and is serious, which is worrying.

These examples of carcinogenic clothing exposed are just the tip of the iceberg and may well be just a few of the many problems. A total of 58 batches of products were found to be unqualified during the random inspection at that time, with a failure rate of 19.2%. This data has once again ignited public concern about clothing safety.

In the face of these carcinogenic clothing problems, consumers are becoming more and more worried and anxious, and they are full of suspicion and anxiety about the clothing products they buy. They began to question the brand's commitment and quality control measures, and were angry and disappointed with the so-called "well-known brands".

These potential carcinogenic factors have worried many consumers, but if we can keep our eyes open when buying clothes and be vigilant about these three types of clothing, we may be able to avoid being threatened by "poisoned clothes".

Clothing without safety labels may contain carcinogenic ingredients and is not recommended for purchase. In addition, there are similar risks in clothes that are too bright in color and some "foreign trade tail list" refurbished clothes.

First of all, clothing without safety labels may contain carcinogenic ingredients. Safety labeling refers to the label or identification on clothing that certifies that the product has passed a series of safety tests and monitoring to ensure that it does not pose a hazard to human health. However, if the clothing does not have a safety marking, it means that it cannot be guaranteed.

The carcinogenic ingredients that may exist in clothing mainly include organic solvent residues, heavy metal dyes, halogenated flame retardants, etc. Organic solvent residues mainly come from the addition process of dyes and chemicals, such as toluene, benzene and other organic solvents.

Long-term exposure to these organic solvents can cause harm to the liver, nervous system, etc., and may lead to the occurrence of cancer. Heavy metal dyes, such as lead, chromium, etc., can also have a negative impact on human health and even affect the development of the reproductive system.

Halogenated flame retardants are added to increase the flame retardant properties of clothing, but they can release harmful gases that pose a risk to human health.

Secondly, clothes that are too bright in color may also have carcinogenic ingredients. Clothes that are too bright in color are usually achieved by adding dyes, which often contain certain chemical components. Some chemical dyes may contain carcinogens, such as aniline, which are potentially harmful to human health.

Although relatively safe dyes are commonly used in dyes on the market today, bright colors may not be achieved by safe dyes. Therefore, when buying clothes, try to choose styles with more natural colors to reduce exposure to harmful dyes.

Finally, some "foreign trade tail list" refurbished clothes may also contain carcinogenic ingredients. Foreign trade tail order refers to the tail goods or inventory generated by foreign enterprises in the production process of goods, which enter the domestic market for sale through some channels.

The refurbished clothing refers to the secondary sorting and transformation of these foreign trade tail orders to meet the needs of the domestic market. Since the source and quality of these foreign trade tail orders cannot be guaranteed, these refurbished clothes often have potential safety hazards.

Some companies may add dyes or chemicals that contain carcinogenic ingredients in order to enhance the attractiveness of clothing. Therefore, when buying refurbished clothes, you need to pay special attention to their safety and try to choose reputable brands and channels to buy.

To sum up, clothes without safety labels, clothes with too bright colors and some "foreign trade tail list" refurbished clothes may contain carcinogenic ingredients, so it is not recommended to buy.

When buying clothes, consumers should pay attention to the safety labels on the clothes, choose styles with more natural colors, and try to choose reputable channels to reduce exposure to harmful substances and protect their health.
