On this sunny and warm spring afternoon, I sat in my study at home, reminiscing about the unpleasant experience between me and my husband. This experience made me truly feel that God treats everyone fairly, and sometimes, the meanness and utilitarianism between people's hearts can make this fair treatment so cruel.
It was the night I got together with a few friends. We are both married women with our own marriages and families. While we were happily chatting about each other's current situation, my husband suddenly brought up a topic that made me feel dissatisfied. He claimed that at tonight's dinner, we were asked to do AA. I was confused by his request because we had been co-funding until we got married, and we had never had this experience of being so clearly divided. But now that my husband has already proposed it, I have no choice but to accept this fact.
This time the AA system seems to be a small episode, but it portends a deeper problem. It wasn't long before things quickly took to a point I couldn't have predicted. My father was in a motorcycle accident and he was seriously injured and needed a lot of medical bills. I was so anxious that I didn't know how I could raise this huge amount of money.
Just when I was disheartened, my husband walked up to me. He handed me 20,000 yuan, which was his savings. I looked at him gratefully, and my heart swelled with gratitude and dependence on him. I thought that the dilemma between us would finally be resolved, but I didn't know that it was just a bigger undercurrent surging around.
When my father was finally discharged from the hospital, my husband walked up to me again and pulled out a written IOU. He asked me to sign it and said that the 20,000 yuan was lent to me and needed to be returned at high interest. My eyes moistened instantly, and the disappointment and pain pierced me deeply. I used to think he was the closest person in my life, but now, he has become a stranger with a heart of stone.
In this world, there is a kind of selfishness and pettiness called stinginess towards relatives. And he is the embodiment of this stinginess. I know very well that such a marriage is not worth looking back on, let alone keeping. I am not willing to give my life to such a selfish man, and I need to pursue my own happiness and not be bound by his careful eye.
So, I decided to get a divorce. Leave this narrow marriage space and find your own broad world. I no longer complained about my husband's selfishness, I just told myself silently from the bottom of my heart that this experience made me understand my determination. I'm going to accept it all and try to find my own happiness.
Marriage is a good relationship created by two people, which needs to be managed and cared for. Everyone wants to feel supported and loved by each other in their marriage. And when this support and love turns into scheming and stingy, then the marriage loses its original meaning.
Marriage is a struggle that requires both parties to work together to face all kinds of difficulties and challenges in life. And when the interests of the moment force us to give up sincere feelings and trust, marriage loses its existential value.
It was the end of a story and the beginning of a new life for me. I believe that in this vast world, there will always be someone who will truly identify with me, love me, let go of all scheming and stinginess, and become the most important person in my life. I will continue to move forward and pursue that happiness that belongs to me. And this marriage, under the wash of time, will become a testimony and lesson for me to move forward bravely.
