However, the Qing army lured the surrender and took the lives of Shi Dakai's remaining more than 1,000 people during the night attack.
On June 27, 1863, Shi Dakai was put on trial in Chengdu, indignant at the Qing army's fraud. Chengruo, who originally promised to let him live, was betrayed, and finally Shi Dakai was sentenced to death by Ling Chi. When he was about to be executed, he looked calm, and was brutally cut with three thousand knives, but he did not let out a cry of pain. When the executioner saw this, he burst into tears. Shi Dakai's body was secretly collected and buried on a hillside.
