On January 1, BYD released a production and sales report showing that the sales of new energy vehicles in December 2023 were 341,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 45%, and the cumulative sales in 2023 were 3,024,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 62.3%. Among them, the annual sales of new energy passenger vehicles were 3,012,906 units, a year-on-year increase of 66.21%.

From the brand point of view, BYD Dynasty Network and Ocean Network are still the main sales force. In December 2023, Dynasty and Ocean sold a total of 321,600 new vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 40.7%. Starting from November 2023, BYD Dynasty Network and Ocean Network are increasing their promotional efforts, with a maximum discount of 20,000 yuan, and strive to impulse by the end of the year.

At the same time, BYD also directly lowered the launch price of new cars. On December 15, the BYD Song L was officially launched, with five models priced from 189,800 to 249,800 yuan. Although it is positioned as a high-end model of the Song family, this price has been significantly reduced by 30,000 yuan compared with the controversial pre-sale price of 220,000-280,000 yuan in October.

BYD, which focuses on cost-effectiveness in the low-end market, is also in the high-end market. Among them, the sales volume of the DENZA brand in December 2023 was 119,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 98.8%. With a Leopard 5, the Formula Leopard brand is priced into the price range of more than 300,000 yuan, and its sales volume will reach 5,086 units in December 2023. It is worth mentioning that as a million-level luxury car, Yangwang U8 also sold 1,593 units in the month, and it is also the "light of domestic products" in the high-end market.

From the perspective of power technology, after two months of month-on-month decline, BYD's plug-in hybrid models showed a relatively obvious rebound in December 2023, with a month-on-month increase of 13.87% to 149,400 units, while the performance of pure electric models has been growing steadily, reaching 190,800 units in December.

For next year's development, BYD will continue to adopt the "wolf pack tactics". Among them, the Hiace 07 EV, which was previously unveiled at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show, may be launched this year, and the Qin L of Dynasty Network is a B-segment sedan worth looking forward to this year.

"The 'double flagship' sedan products launched in the first half of 2024 will consolidate the high-end product matrix. On December 31, Zhao Changjiang, general manager of BYD's DENZA sales division, mentioned in his New Year's speech that the future DENZA car is expected to realize the "onboarding" of AI large models and the mass production application of L3 autonomous driving. In addition, DENZA Auto will start sales in Hong Kong and Macau.

The equation Leopard Leopard 8 and Yangwang U9, which have repeatedly released information before, may land on the market this year, and then help BYD hit the high-end market. In addition, BYD is also increasing channel construction to expand the market. According to the plan, in 2023, Yangwang will open more than 90 directly-operated stores in more than 40 cities across the country to achieve full coverage of first-tier and new first-tier cities. In terms of overseas markets, BYD is also continuing to increase its weight. According to local media reports in Japan, BYD has established a development plan in the Japanese market.
