Located at No. 302 Changjiang Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China, the Six Dynasties Museum is a museum dedicated to the artifacts and history of the Six Dynasties period (220 to 589 AD). The Six Dynasties was an important period in Chinese history, including the capitals of the Southern Dynasties Liu Song, Southern Qi, Southern Liang, and Chen, as well as the Southern and Northern Dynasties Liang and Southern and Northern Dynasties Chen. During the period of the Six Dynasties, Nanjing, originally named Jianye, later renamed Ye and Jiankang, was an oriental metropolis with magnificent palaces, dense population, and highly developed industry and commerce.

The construction area of the Six Dynasties Museum is more than 23,000 square meters, of which the underground construction area is more than 11,000 square meters and the above-ground construction area is 12,000 square meters. The museum is the most comprehensive site museum in China to display the cultural relics of the Six Dynasties, and it is also the most systematic local thematic museum reflecting the culture of the Six Dynasties.

The Six Dynasties Museum was officially opened to the public on August 11, 2014. The museum displays a large number of precious cultural relics of the Six Dynasties, including celadon ware, terracotta figurines, epitaphs, architectural components, stone carvings, calligraphy and paintings, etc. Through the display of these cultural relics, people can understand and recognize the magnificence and splendor of the former Oriental imperial capital.

The Six Dynasties Museum has four exhibition halls, namely "The Imperial Capital of the Six Dynasties", "Looking Back at the Six Dynasties", "The Style of the Six Dynasties" and "The Masterpieces of the Six Dynasties". In the exhibition hall of "Imperial Capital of the Six Dynasties", the historical appearance and cultural achievements of the Six Dynasties period are displayed to the audience by displaying the unearthed cultural relics of the ancient capital sites of the Six Dynasties. In the exhibition hall of "Looking Back at the Six Dynasties", the characteristics of urban construction, economic development, cultural inheritance and innovation of Nanjing during the Six Dynasties period are introduced. In the "Styles of the Six Dynasties" exhibition hall, the artistic creation and cultural features of the Six Dynasties period are displayed. In the exhibition hall of "Masterpieces of the Six Dynasties", the celebrity demeanor and cultural achievements of the Six Dynasties period are displayed.

The Six Dynasties Museum also pays attention to the exhibition design, adopts the exhibition hall design of the garden style, uses bamboo, lotus leaves and other plants to set up the scenery for partitioning, and uses light and shadow effects to create a visual and transparent viewing experience. In addition, there is also a rest area for the audience in the museum, and a sketch is designed according to the artistic conception of "Lanting Yaji", where the audience can enjoy the piano music of the Six Dynasties.
