"Erjiu has three fears" is a traditional Chinese folk Xi, which refers to the weather conditions entering Erjiu. The old people believe that the weather is not cold and the south wind blows on a sunny day, and these three conditions will have adverse effects on crops and human health.
First of all, the fact that the weather is not cold on the 29th may mean that the temperature is rising, which is not good for the winter crops. Rising temperatures can cause crops to break dormancy, allowing them to flower and bear fruit earlier. If extreme weather such as cold wave or strong wind occurs in the later stage, it can easily lead to the withering of crops, which will have a negative impact on agriculture.
Secondly, sunny days are also bad for crops. It usually means that the sun is stronger, and in the case of winter crops that have not yet entered the growing season, too much sunlight may cause damage to some plant tissues, which can affect the growth and yield of crops.
Third, I am afraid that the south wind will blow on Erjiu, which is also related to agricultural production. The southerly wind is generally accompanied by moist air, and if the southerly wind blows in Erjiu, it may bring the spread and breeding of pests and diseases to crops, for example, some germs and insect pests may be more likely to spread in southerly weather, posing a threat to crops.
In general, "29 has three fears" is indeed a folk traditional Xi that deserves attention. This kind of traditional knowledge about weather and crops, although lacking scientific basis, has some guiding significance in actual agricultural production.
