On December 27, the 2023 System Stability and Lean Software Engineering Conference, hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the China Communications Standards Association, was held in Beijing shared the exploration and practice of AppStage O&M Center on HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform on how to deal with cloud-native application O&M challenges and ensure application stability.

In the cloud-native era, the application O&M mode has been upgraded from the traditional resource management as the core to the application management as the core, and the original O&M mode faces many challenges: rapid iteration of business software, abundant O&M tools, and contradictions between rapid business development and high application stability requirements.

Designed to meet the challenges of O&M in the cloud-native era, the AppStage O&M Center of HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform has built four capabilities around cloud-native business scenarios:

First, based on intelligent O&M AIOps, unattended changes are realized. Through the Everything as a Code (XaC) statement, AppStage Operation Center of HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform automates the steps of review, execution, and verification of changes, avoiding human errors, shortening the steps and operation time in the change process, and implementing unattended changes, helping enterprises improve O&M efficiency.

Second, through the linkage monitoring of terminals, pipes, edges, and clouds, intelligent management of the fault life cycle is realized. The AppStage O&M Center of HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform uses linkage monitoring among devices, pipes, edges, and clouds to make metrics, logs, and call chains observable across the entire stack, breaking through data silos. After device-side alarms, AI anomaly detection algorithms and AI root cause diagnosis capabilities are used to detect faults in 1 minute, locate them in 5 minutes, and recover in 10 minutes, greatly reducing the fault recovery time and improving service quality.

Third, the application reliability is fully verified through chaotic engineering fault injection. The AppStage O&M Center of HUAWEI CLOUD supports more than 80 fault injection methods and predefined more than 50 fault drill scenarios.

Fourth, FinOps operation and maintenance costs are visualized to help enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency. AppStage O&M Center of HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform embeds AIOps capabilities such as grayscale assessment, alarm consolidation, anomaly detection, and root cause diagnosis into various O&M activities, transforming passive O&M into active O&M, helping enterprises optimize resource utilization, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.

The AppStage O&M Center of HUAWEI CLOUD Application Platform builds Huawei's years of experience in building, managing, using, and maintaining large-scale cloud-native applications onto the platform. Basic engineering capabilities such as reliability, resilience, and security, which used to require a lot of work, are provided through the platform, allowing enterprises to focus on business code.
