Since its inception, the program has made remarkable achievements, successfully helping to reunite nearly 200 families separated from each other, and more than 10,000 lost people to find their way home.
The show's first season focused on families separated in mainland China and Taiwan for historical reasons. The aim of this season is to help the older generation of these families find their roots and let the younger generation know about their family history. The program team not only helped the elderly realize the wish of "returning to their roots", but also helped young people to "find their roots and ask their ancestors" and deeply explore their family origins.

On an ordinary day in 2017, Changsha Airport welcomed a special guest - Joyce, a 22-year-old girl born in Belgium. She has a Chinese face but speaks Chinese with a foreign accent. Employees at the airport were curious about the unusual passenger.
Joyce was greeted by a group of people dressed in volunteer costumes and holding a banner beside them: "Take you back to the warmth of your hometown." This scene caused a slight commotion at the airport, and there was a lot of interest in the girl's story.

In order to speed up the search for her biological parents, Joyce contacted a television program to find her family with the help of the widespread power of television and the Internet. Several families who lost their daughters contacted the crew after the show aired, and two of them — the Xiong family and the Li family — matched Joyce's situation in terms of date of birth and time of disappearance.
In September 2017, Joyce traveled to Yiyang, Hunan Province, to meet with the two families to find out if they were her biological parents.
