Although winter is not a good season for climbing, there are some mountains and winter scenery that can really make people forget the cold wind and fatigue, and make people "go and return".
For example, Emei.
As a southerner, I have always thought that the most beautiful snow scene is in the northeast, after all, the rime in Jilin and the mushroom houses in the snow town really perfectly present the imagination of southerners to the snow country.
Until I went to climb Emei for the first time in winter, the direct fault was the first!
It is said that Emei is beautiful in the world, and Emei in winter can be said to be a combination of beauty and atmosphere.
Unlike the north, where everything withers and rivers freeze. In the winter of Emei, you can see the traces of green leaves looming under the snow, and you can also see the stream flowing smoothly between the ice cubes.
Not to mention the sunrise of the sea of clouds and the rime on the top of Mount Emei, which is really beautiful.
In addition to the snow scene, if you climb the mountain on foot, the whole journey is about 30 kilometers, and it takes nearly 20 hours to reach the summit. If you don't want to go out in a day, most of the places along the way are only temples where you can stay, but luckily there are temples where you can stay.
Walking in Emei and living in the monastery. The whole person will slow down and calm down, and can experience the leisure of "the clouds of the world are enough to ask".
Therefore, arranging a guide to my favorite Mount Emei in winter is a must.
What to do in Emei in winter?
1. Look at the snow
The winter of Mount Emei, not to mention the four seasons of one mountain, at least one mountain and two seasons. At the foot of the mountain, the trees are shady, the water is murmuring, and it is peaceful.
As the altitude continues to rise, traces of snow begin to appear on the side of the road, and walking on the mountain road, there is only a snow-covered forest and a trail, which is beautiful.
If you're lucky, you can still see rime at the top of the mountain, and it's not an exaggeration to say it's a fairyland!
2. Watch the sunrise and the sunshine of Jinshan
The sunrise over the sea of clouds is definitely a highlight of Mount Emei.
"How many times will you see the full moon rise in your lifetime? maybe 20 times, but it seems infinite. ”
The sunrise over the sea of clouds is a rare encounter in the seemingly infinite beauty. After watching the sunrise, you can turn your head and see the sunshine golden mountain of Gongga Snow Mountain, which is also the existence of Emei Mountain that is enough to make people scream.
3. Look at the monkeys
Mount Emei monkeys are known for being "brutal and ferocious", but winter also makes them restrain a lot.
Even seeing the monkeys squatting on the side of the road with their hands in hand makes people feel that they are too cute and cute.
However, "the monkey is wild and untamed, keep your distance", you still have to listen to persuasion! (I almost fought with the monkey, blood and tears lesson!)
4. Resident temple
The experience of staying in the temple, the editor who frolicked wrote a lot to everyone.
But my personal favorite is Mount Emei. Emei temple is in the mountains, with a kind of "paradise" aura. In addition, there are not many people who hike up the mountain, and most of the monasteries are monks who live and practice regularly.
Living in the mountains and eating some vegetarian food is the degree to which the whole person will be "purified".
5. Bubble hot springs
There is a natural hot spring at the foot of Mount Emei, after climbing the mountain, you can soak in a hot spring at the foot of the mountain, and relieve your fatigue is the perfect end at the end!
How to play in Emei in winter
The starting point of Mount Emei is the archway of the world's famous mountain, and the end point is the golden peak.
There are plenty of hiking trails between the start and the end. If you want to climb the mountain on foot, there are also multiple routes to choose from, and you can even combine it with a car to speed up the climb.

By car + cable car course
Let's talk about the bus route first, and the departure station at the foot of the mountain is next to the ticket office.
Starting from the foot of the mountain, there will be a parking lot in Wuxiangang and a parking lot in the middle, and the terminal is Lei Dongping. After walking from Lei Dong Ping to the Receiving Hall, you can take the cable car to reach the Golden Peak.
This route is very easy and enjoyable, the whole journey is stress-free, and you can check in Emei in one day.
There are several stops along the way to take a tour.
Hokokuji Temple at the foot of the mountain can be arranged before or after the ascent of the mountain. Baoguo Temple is the largest temple in Mount Emei and the gateway to the mountain. The whole temple is magnificent, and it is very magnificent.
Secondly, you can get off at Wuxian Gang and go to Qingyin Pavilion.
Seiyin Pavilion is a place that is not tacky to describe as "beautiful". On the way to Qingyin Pavilion, you will pass by Qingyin Ping Lake, and the lake and mountains are very quiet. And Shuangqiao Qingyin, one pavilion and two streams, is really full of ancient meaning!
After the Qingyin Pavilion is a ray of sky, although this sounds like a "scenic spot" everywhere, but the sense of oppression brought by the canyon gap is still very strong.
A short distance ahead of the first line of heaven is the ecological monkey area. The monkeys here don't come often on the road and will see them jumping up and down the opposite hill.
After walking around the monkey area, you can almost go back. Continue to the train and you can go to the next stop, Wannian Temple.
There is a cable car from the parking lot of Mannenji Temple to Mannenji Temple.
One of the highlights of this temple is the beamless brick hall at the bottom of the upper circle, and the bronze statue of Fuxian Bodhisattva in the hall, which was sculpted in the Song Dynasty.
In addition, the temple also houses relics such as Buddha's tooth teeth and bay leaf sutras, but these cultural relics are rarely seen.
Next, you can go directly to Lei Dongping!
Lei Dongping is the largest distribution center on Mount Emei, where accommodation and catering are abundant. If you want to stay at the top of the mountain to watch the sunrise, you can choose to stay in Lei Dongping.
There are two directions for the tour of Lei Dongping, one goes up to the Receiving Hall and takes the cable car directly to the Golden Peak. If you don't take the cable car, it takes about 2 hours to walk to the Golden Dome. The scenery along the way is beautiful, but be aware that this section of the road is relatively high in altitude, so you have to do what you can.
There is a chance that you will feel the shock of crossing directly from under the sea of clouds to above the sea of clouds on this road. After the junction of the sea of clouds, the whole world suddenly opened up, and the blue sky, the sea of clouds, and the mountains were the surprise of "another village with bright willows and flowers".
There is also a high probability that you will see monkeys on the road, and the monkeys here are often fed and are relatively bold, so be sure to keep your distance.
The other direction is from the direction of Lingjukuji Temple, and walk a little down the mountain.
This section of the road will have the taste of winter forest crossing, and the side of the road is very steep when you look through the mountains. But you don't have to go too far to see the obvious stairs down the hill and turn around.
Finally, there is the golden top.
The huge statue of Fugen Bodhisattva is awe-inspiring every time you see it.
But this is not the end, the real "Golden Dome" has to go up, it is a golden bronze hall.
The cliff of the golden dome is the intuitive expression of "standing on the wall and standing a thousand thousands", and the Huazang Temple can make people feel the gorgeousness of "the Buddha wants to be dressed in gold".
After visiting the Golden Peak, return to Lei Dongping, take the car back to the foot of the mountain, and find a place to soak in the hot springs, perfect!
Hiking trails
The whole journey is from the world's famous mountains all the way to Jinding, in which there are two paths forked near Qingyin Pavilion, the west road passes through Hongchunping, Xianfeng Temple to Jiulinggang, and the east road passes through Wannian Temple and Huayanding to Jiulinggang. The two routes converge at Jiulinggang.
After Jiulinggang, go to Lei Dongping through the Elephant Washing Pond and arrive at Jinding.
There are two meeting points for the hiking route and the bus route, Qingyin Pavilion (Wuxiangang parking lot) and Lei Dongping.
You can choose from a combination of physical strength, such as walking from the foot of the mountain to Qingyin Pavilion and taking a car up the mountain, or taking a car to Qingyin Pavilion and then hiking to Lei Dongping. As for Lei Dongping to Jinding, it is OK to walk the cable car, just look at the physical condition.
It is worth noting that after passing the Qingyin Pavilion, no matter which road you decide to take to go up the mountain, it belongs to "opening the bow and not turning back", and there is no other choice when you enter the mountain. If you can't walk halfway, you can either turn around and go back to the same place, or stick to Lei Dongping, which is still a great test of perseverance.
Let's talk about the general situation on the next road.
The world's famous mountain - Qingyin Pavilion, this section of the road belongs to the "warm-up stage", the overall is relatively smooth, there are not too many mountain roads. Along the road is also the area where the temple is more concentrated, starting from Baoguo Temple, all the way through Fuhu Temple, Leiyin Temple, Chunyang Temple, Holy Water Pavilion, Zhongfeng Temple, if you are not in a hurry, you can hold the mountain and play in the water, enter the mountain to visit the temple mood all the way down.
When you get to Qingyin Pavilion, you need to make a choice.
To put it simply, the 99 turns on the west road do persuade many people to retreat, and it is also "really over the mountains and mountains", but the scenery along the way is also relatively diverse; the east road is relatively monotonous, and one road goes straight to the top.
Let's start with the West Road.
Qingyin Pavilion to Hongchunping all the way began to gradually go uphill, which required physical strength. However, along the way, you can visit the first line of the sky, and there are monkeys to see, which is quite pleasant.
The famous scenery of Hong Chunping is "Hong Chun Xiaoyu", and I stayed here for one night. When I woke up the next morning, the temple was shrouded in a thick fog, and the trees in the fog were quite impressive.
Hong Chunping to Xianfeng Temple is the first test on this road, the ninety-nine turns are by no means scary, it is really a staircase connected to a staircase, turning and turning again, or on the stairs.
In fact, it takes about two hours to climb and stop, that is, when climbing, the mentality is easy to collapse, so you have to stabilize.
After ninety-nine turns, it is not far from Xianfeng Temple.
Xianfeng Temple is one of my favorite temples in Mount Emei. There is a tea house open to the outside world in the temple, in which tea utensils and tea leaves are readily available, and the water for making tea is still the nearby mountain spring water. Take a drink when you're tired of walking, don't be too comfortable.
If I'm not mistaken, there is a 1,500-year-old tree on the way to Xianfeng Temple, which towers into the sky and is very impressive.
Xianfeng Temple to Jiulinggang is necessary to go down the mountain and then go up the mountain. The scenery is beautiful along the way through large woods. It's just that every step down the stairs is very painful, because you have to climb back again!!
When you arrive at Jiulinggang, it will converge with East Road.
From Qingyin Pavilion through the East Road to Jiuxiangang, there are relatively few people walking on this road, and the overall ups and downs are not large, almost all the way to the top of the slow climb.
In addition to the Wannian Temple, the Huayan Peak on the East Road is known as the "Little Golden Peak". Here you can overlook the urban area of Emei, and "Huayan Guanyun" is also one of the famous scenery of Emei. It is also a good choice to stay in Huayanding for a day and take a break.
No matter which way you go to Jiulinggang, the next road is painful and happy.
The happy thing is that it is close to the top of the mountain, and the painful thing is that it will have to face the "drill slope" next, and the calf will be sore when I hear the name.
In winter, you should also pay attention to the fact that you can almost prepare crampons, and the snow along the road is very slippery, and crampons are really life-saving.
From Jiulinggang to Lei Dongping, you will pass through the Elephant Washing Pond, which is the Emeishan Temple that is tied for the first place in my heart with Xianfeng Temple.
Although it was built in the middle of the mountain, the whole temple is very open and atmospheric. When the weather is fine, you can overlook the urban area of Mount Emei here, which is a treasure place to feel the "moon and half autumn of Mount Emei".
"Survive" through the drill slope, you can reach the Lei Dongping.
On the way from Lei Dong Ping to Jinding, if you want to continue to stay in the temple, Lei Dong Ping's Lingjue Temple and Reception Hall provide accommodation. The closest temple to Jinding is Taiziping, which takes about half an hour to walk from Taiziping to Jinding, and you can save a lot of time by watching the sunrise in the morning.
The accommodation in Taiziping is very ordinary, but the rice is particularly delicious, especially the fried potato chips, so you must try it if you have the chance. It's also very beautiful to catch the sunny sky and look at the stars at night!
After visiting the Golden Dome, you can go all the way back to the foot of the mountain by cable car and bus.
Of course, there are also those who are more head-on, walking all the way down the mountain. Although it was also an option, I was worried about their calves every time I saw it......
My principle is that I would rather climb a mountain than go down. Ha ha.
Mt. Emei Onsen
Finally, back at the foot of Mount Emei, you can find a hot spring to relieve your fatigue.
There are many hot spring hotels at the foot of Mount Emei, if you want to find a more authentic hot spring, you can choose the source hot spring near Wuxian Gang, which is close to the hot spring outlet, which is basically a pure hot spring.
After going out of the mountain, there are more choices at the foot of the mountain, the old state guesthouse Hongzhu Mountain, or Lingxiu Hot Spring, are good, there are many pools, and the water is also reliable.
You can stay directly in a hot spring hotel, or buy a single ticket and stay nearby after soaking.
Although climbing Emei is often a whole day of hiking, it is really super sadistic.
But every time I climb Emei, it's sadistic and cool, and I want to continue after climbing. When I climbed Emei for the fourth time, I said hello in Taiziping, and there were the ninth and sixth ones around, which were simply poisonous.
However, I still seriously suggest that you should not be masochistic, try to arrange 2~3 days, and you can stay properly in the middle. The longest time, I climbed to the top in five days, but it was also the most relaxed and happy.

- There is no airport in Mount Emei, so you can take a train from Chengdu to Mount Emei Station.
- The train station is very close to the mountain gate, about 10 yuan by taxi, and there are also shuttle buses.

- In winter, you must pay attention to keeping warm when climbing, and try to absorb sweat and dry quickly in your underwear.
- Crampons are indispensable, and the price at the base of the mountain is cheaper than at the top of the mountain, and it is also sold in the middle of the mountain, so you can consider whether to bring it up along the road.
- It's best to have one trekking pole, but if you don't have one, you can use less than 5 bamboo poles at the foot of the mountain.
- Most monasteries have electric blankets, but the temperature in the mountains is low at night, so be prepared.
