Hunan Daily, December 25 (All-media reporter Yu Rong, correspondent Tian Weipeng, Luo Longlei) On the afternoon of December 23, the outstanding works of the 2024 graduates of the School of Drama of Hunan Vocational College of Arts were staged in the experimental theater. This performance is also part of the 2023 Hunan Provincial Culture and Tourism Fund Project and the construction of Hunan Chuyi's high-level opera performance professional group.
"The Dawn Is Quiet Here" is a revolutionary drama based on the novel of the same name by former Soviet writer Boris Vasilyev, which depicts the heroes of the war defending the motherland and expelling the invaders. The play tells the story of the Great Patriotic War in the former Soviet Union, in a small village, because the men went to the front to fight, only women and children remained. Warrant Officer Vaskov, the commander of the military movement in the village, was dissatisfied with the disorganized discipline of his fighters and demanded that the major be replaced. Unexpectedly, in exchange for a group of female soldiers, Vaskov's life changed all of a sudden, but before he could get used to it, the tense battle came. Vaskov and five of his female soldiers fought a thrilling, fierce and brutal struggle against the Germans in the vast forest to defend the nearby transport railway line from being blown up by the enemy.
The whole performance was gripping, and the cruelty of war and the female soldiers' yearning for peace and happiness caused a strong spiritual impact on the audience through the delicate interpretation of the actors. After a brisk and humorous brief presentation in the opening, it then enters the key part of the drama - the German soldiers sneak into the forest, and Vaskov leads five female soldiers to block it. The climactic part of the battle is tense and exciting, and every move of the actors on the stage tightly affects the hearts of the audience.
The most impressive thing is the happy life from the past that the female soldiers recreated in front of their eyes before their deaths. At that time, they were in love with their lovers, happy with their friends, and warm with their families...... This stark contrast has a terrifying power that brings tears to the eyes of many viewers.
