On December 24, the world's largest and China's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel powered 15,000 square cabin capacity large rake suction dredger "Xinhai Sturgeon", invested by CCCC Shanghai Waterway Bureau Co., Ltd., general contractor of CCCC Dredging Technology and Equipment National Engineering Research Center Co., Ltd., designed by the 708th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation and built by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., was officially launched in Qidong Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Zhenhua Heavy Industries. This marks that the R&D, design and construction of LNG dual-fuel powered rake suction dredgers in mainland China have filled the gap in clean energy dredgers, and will also make positive contributions to the realization of the "3060" dual carbon goal in mainland China on schedule, leading and promoting the green transformation and development of the dredging industry in mainland China.
The ship has a total length of 155.7 meters, a width of 32 meters, a full load draft of 9.9 meters, and a maximum capacity of 17,000 cubic meters of mud tanks. The vessel is also the world's largest LNG dual-fuel powered rake suction dredger.
The rake suction dredger is a dredging engineering ship, which is mainly responsible for the dredging and maintenance of the waterway, and is also a "big country" for sand blowing and reclamation. As the first dual-fuel power dredger in China, the ship is equipped with the most advanced and intelligent "one-key dredging" and "dredging and driving integration" systems in China, and will realize the "unmanned dredging" function under typical working conditions for the first time in China. At the same time, the ship will also be equipped with a comprehensive intelligent management platform for the first time in the rake suction dredger, integrating intelligent engine room, intelligent navigation, intelligent energy efficiency management and other systems, through the integrated design, installation and control of the whole ship, it can effectively improve the management level of the whole ship, improve construction efficiency, and ensure the safety of navigation operations.
Compared with traditional fuel-powered dredgers, the vessel is more energy-saving and environmentally friendly, and the operation will be more economical, and it can switch to LNG and diesel fuel at any time to achieve the purpose of green environmental protection and energy saving to the greatest extent. Its dual-fuel ship power unit has basically the same dynamic index as the diesel engine, and can reduce nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide emissions by 90%, and can eliminate sulfur oxides and particulate matter emissions. The ship also uses world-class advanced technology and equipment, and fully applies the dredging system, key dredging equipment and intelligent dredging operation system independently developed and designed by the Dredging National Engineering Center, which is a dredger with international advanced technology level.
The ship is expected to be delivered in September 2024, and will be mainly used for dredging and reclamation of coastal ports and deep-water waterways, as well as coastal maintenance projects, which is of great significance to promote the development of domestic green shipping.
