Taking the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road International Cooperation Initiative as an opportunity, on December 25, the 9th Drama Festival and English Festival of "The Belt and Road Initiative of Yaohua" of Yuanling Experimental Primary School in Futian District, Shenzhen kicked off.
The opening ceremony featured a majestic ensemble of Chinese and foreign songs performed by wind music, string music and recorder, presenting the school's pyramid-style art education form. In the "Red Carpet Show", students dressed in national costumes from various countries took the stage to show, allowing the audience to deeply feel the charm of different cultures.
The 16 teachers and children of the school's English department performed classic stories such as the dubbing of the Belt and Road promotional video on the stage, and also incorporated multicultural elements such as Indian dance and Thai song and dance, presenting a colorful audio-visual feast for the audience.
The children of the dance troupe presented various ethnic dances, and the song "You and Me" was presented in the form of song and dance of cultural fusion. The Philharmonic Children's Choir, which has won many gold and silver medals in youth choir competitions at home and abroad, sang two songs that promote traditional culture, "Little Pond" and "Strong Country Youth", and the whole school sang "As Wished" resounded over the campus.
The foreign teacher used Chat GPT to lead the students to understand Zheng He's story. "Zheng He" who came through time and space appeared at the scene, had a dialogue with everyone across the millennium, and set sail with President Xiao. The principal explained the two Silk Roads by sea and land, and urged the students to strengthen their international understanding and work hard.
The cultural industry fair held in the afternoon was very popular, and the children enhanced their understanding of cultures around the world in the situation. At the event site, each grade level displayed the cultural characteristics of a country, including clothing landmarks, cultural Xi display, handicraft experience, food, and tourism recommendations. The children immersed themselves in the fun of trading with RMB in hand, bought and sold in English, and returned with a full load. After the experience, they learned more about the customs of each country by looking for clues, and printed the characteristic seals of each country on the "passport" in their hands as a souvenir.
This week, the school will also hold a drama show in English and Chinese, as well as a Model United Nations showcase, where students will demonstrate their understanding and respect for different cultures in fluent English.
The "Belt and Road" Drama Festival and English Festival not only enriched the cultural life of the campus, but also provided strong support for cultivating students' international vision and cross-cultural understanding.
