The ones on this table are all normal heights, and there is no need to take growth hormone! Parents should not create anxiety for themselves

With better living conditions, adequate nutrition for children, and significantly improved physical growth levels, parents' expectations for their children's height are also increasing.

However, some parents may have limited medical knowledge, have high or even unrealistic expectations for their children's height, and are prone to anxiety.

I often encounter some children who are obviously very good, and parents still want to give their children growth hormone and inhibitory injections. Some parents spend a lot of money in order to make their children grow a few centimeters taller, and even mistakenly believe in home remedies, but the result is counterproductive.

This requires us parents to know the following 3 things, ideally look at height, in order to avoid the above situation.

The ones on this table are all normal heights, and there is no need to take growth hormone! Parents should not create anxiety for themselves

1. Understand the laws of children's growth and development

From birth to adulthood, children can be roughly divided into 3 stages: infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and the growth rate of different stages is different.

0-1 years old, at least 25 cm long, average 2 cm long at 1 month;

1-2 years old, at least 10cm long, with an average of 1cm per month;

2-3 years old, at least 8cm long;

4 years old - puberty, with an average of 5-7 cm per year;

Adolescence grows an average of 7-10 cm per year;

Each stage of the child has a corresponding growth rate, if it is lower than the above value, it is necessary to find the cause as soon as possible and intervene as soon as possible! It has been clinically proven that the younger the child, the better the height intervention effect.

2. Learn to calculate genetic height

The influence of genetics on a child's height can account for 60%-70%, and the child's genetic target height can be calculated by the following formula.

The genetic target height allows the doctor to refer to the child's current level and whether it is roughly consistent with genetics. If there is too much difference between your child's growth and genetics, there may be something wrong that needs to be evaluated by a doctor.

3. These children do not need to take growth hormone

Let's start by talking about which children must intervene in height:

In layman's terms, children of the same age, race, gender, and region, from high to low, queue up to the bottom three, need to consider growth hormone to intervene.

The following two figures are the "0-18 years old children and adolescents height, weight percentile value table", the vertical coordinate is the child's age, the horizontal axis is the child's current height score, 3rd or less is the medical short stature category, boys may not grow 161, girls may not grow 150.

PS: It is more accurate to use bone age control

Those who are taller than the third percentile are all normal heights, which may be a little shorter than the average height, but not to the point of taking growth hormone.

After 40 years of consultation in the Department of Child Growth and Development, it was found that most of these children grow slowly, most of which are not caused by growth hormone deficiency, but by underlying problems, such as poor physical fitness, love to be sick, picky eating and anorexia, food accumulation, constipation, diarrhea, unstable sleep, night sweats, etc. With a little intervention in the methods of traditional Chinese medicine, you will soon be able to catch up with children of the same age.
