Wang Xuan was born in a family in Shanghai in 1952 and grew up in a turbulent era.
After resuming the college entrance examination, she returned to school and went to Japan in 1987 to study, and after years of hard work, she obtained a master's degree from the University of Tsukuba in Japan, and planned a path to the United States.
However, in 1995, Wang Xuan saw a news on TV about germ warfare, which completely changed her life.

From 1940 to 1942, the Japanese army used fleas carrying plague viruses to carry out brutal intensive airdrops to many places in China, and the plague swept through in an instant, and tens of thousands of lives were lost in tragedy.
Wang Xuan saw the heartbreaking traces of this history, as at least 196 villagers, including her 13-year-old uncle, were killed by the plague in just six months in her hometown of Chongshan Village.
Half a century later, the plague still lingers on the land. Every year, the local government tests thousands of rats, some of which are still positive.
Faced with such a cruel reality, Wang Xuan decided to take action without hesitation. In 1997, she led 108 injured elderly people, who later grew to 180, and they walked into the Tokyo court to formally file a lawsuit against the Japanese government.
They raised the strongest cry in court: they demanded that the Japanese government recognize the historical facts of bacteriological warfare and apologize to the Chinese people.

History of the crimes of Unit 731
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in China, Japanese imperialism did not hesitate to use all kinds of cruel means in order to suppress the resistance of the Chinese people.
One of the most heinous was the bacteriological warfare carried out by the Japanese invaders, and the mastermind of this terrible war was none other than the notorious Unit 731.

It was not until 1980 that the non-fiction work "The Devil's Food" came out, which made the world aware of the scale of the bacteriological warfare carried out by Unit 731 in China. From late 1995 to the spring of 1997, Wang Xuan shuttled between China and Japan, maintaining close contact with the victims of germ warfare.
She devoted herself wholeheartedly to becoming the head of the Chinese germ warfare victims' litigation team, representing the old people who suffered in silence.
Wang Xuan tirelessly searched for survivors of germ warfare, listened to their real-life experiences, and worked tirelessly to gather evidence. She worked hard to let more people know the truth about germ warfare and won the attention and support of the international community.
In 2014, thanks to her unremitting efforts, the number of germ warfare victims who came to file complaints gradually increased, and even people from the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries joined the lawsuit.
On February 16, 1998, this shocking claim was officially launched, and Wang Xuan stood there steadfastly at the scene, delivering the opening speech.

In 2002, he lost the case in the first instance, in 2005, he lost the second instance, and in 2007, he lost the final trial. Many people thought that such a prolonged struggle would make Wang Xuan give up, but her persistence did not stop.
Her actions were admired by many, but others did not approve of her actions, believing that her efforts were futile.
However, Wang Xuan has her own firm belief in this, she said that the success of the result is not so important, what she wants more is to let the world know about the inhumane germ warfare.
In the struggle against Japan for more than 20 years, Wang Xuan led the Chinese victims to Japan more than 40 times and presented evidence in court 28 times, so that more people could understand this dark history, and her efforts finally made Japan admit the fact of the harm caused by bacteriological warfare.
At the same time, Wang Xuan also tried to treat the surviving elderly by contacting the country's top doctors, and those victims who had been plagued by bacterial diseases for many years finally received free drugs from the state in 2014.
Thanks to Wang Xuan's efforts, they finally got the care and treatment they deserved.

The search for justice across time and space
Time is the most ruthless enemy, but Wang Xuan has never succumbed. From 2002 to 2022, for a full twenty years, she exhausted her family wealth, endured huge mental pressure and the test of social public opinion, but still insisted on her belief in seeking justice for the victims of germ warfare.
Her tenacity and hard work finally brought the truth to the world, and the Japanese government had to face up to history, no matter how time passed, justice may be late, but it will never be absent.
With the death of the victims of germ warfare, each defeat is like a reminder to the king that time is passing and the truth is becoming more and more difficult to uncover.
Despite this, Wang Xuan persevered in her struggle, because she understood that only by making history evidence-based can she win the respect and equality that victims deserve.
The king's actions are not only for himself, but also for those who have suffered in the war. She founded the Association of Victims of Bacteriological Warfare and organized doctors to help the elderly who were suffering from the disease.
Finally, thanks to Wang Xuan's unremitting efforts, on August 27, 2022, the Tokyo District Court admitted for the first time that Unit 731 and others had carried out bacteriological warfare, and wrote this crime into Japanese textbooks. This is a victory for the king's choice and a tribute to the victims.
