The creation of "Kunpeng Hitting the Waves" lasted four years, and the draft was changed four times. Due to the fact that there are not many books reflecting Mao Zedong's youth, the history recorded in the "Mao Zedong Annals" is only 6 pages. In order to complete the script, Ma Jihong found Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao, Yang Changji, Cai Yuanpei, Deng Zhongxia, Cai Hesen, Xiao Zisheng, Xiang Jingyu, Huang Kan, Li Jinxi and other biographies and anthologies related to Mao Zedong, read them carefully, followed the footprints of Mao Zedong's life, from Shaoshan to Changsha and Beijing, and re-walked the road of his life.
