Under the continuous influence of cold waves and cold air, the temperature in the high-altitude mountainous areas of Qianjiang District of Chongqing has been kept below zero, and on the steep cliffs, there are magnificent ice waterfall wonders, bringing people a rare winter beauty.
At the beginning of the day after the snow, in Shuangyan Village, Xiaonanhai Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing and other places, the ice and snow in the mountains have not yet melted, and the minimum temperature remains at about -6 °C.
Mountain streams and waterfalls condense into ice under the action of low temperatures, hanging on the cliff wall, forming a magnificent group of ice waterfalls.
From the air, cascading icefalls and icicles may pour down, such as the Milky Way hanging upside down, or lingering on the ridge, like jade ribbons flying, just like stalactites in a thousand forms, making people admire the magic of nature.
It is understood that the icefall is a natural wonder formed by the long-term contact between mountain streams and waterfalls with rocks with temperatures below zero in severe cold weather, and only appears under specific climatic conditions.
Under the influence of continuous low temperature weather, Shuangyan Village, Xiaonanhai Town, Qianjiang District, Chongqing and the Bamian Mountain Forest Area have appeared for several kilometers with a maximum drop of hundreds of meters.
In the mountainous area of Qianjiang District, Chongqing, which is more than 1,500 meters above sea level, there is a chance to see the wonders of the icefall from late December to late February every year. Due to the icy roads, citizens who enter the mountain to view the scenery are reminded to follow the instructions of the local emergency management department to ensure safety.
