Why did Duan Yu give up the Six-Vein Divine Sword? It's not that he doesn't have talent, the answer is hidden in the Heaven and Dragon Slayer

author:Erdong Literature and History

Children born in the eighties and nineties should have had a similar experience, on the playground at night, you can always see a few children playing and playing, they shout all kinds of "magic skills" heard from TV dramas, as if as long as the voice is loud enough, the stronger their moves will be, and the most popular among the children is undoubtedly the "Eighteen Palms of the Dragon".

However, compared to the eighteen palms of the dragon descending from the fierce path, the author prefers the six-vein divine sword that originates from the Duan clan of Dali, after all, that move seems to be much more elegant and agile.

The Eighteen Palms of the Dragon Descending and the Six-Vein Divine Sword are both mentioned in "Tianlong Babu", but it is strange to say that the Eighteen Palms of the Dragon Descending have been passed down to future generations, while the Six-Vein Divine Sword has long been lost, why is this?

1. The magic of turning qi into form

In the new revised version, Jin Yong has opened up the worldview between the various works, which can be seen from the inheritance of the eighteen palms of the dragon.

In the thirty-third chapter of "Heaven and Dragon Slayer", there is such a setting: "The beggar gang magic 'Eighteen Palms of the Dragon', in the Northern Song Dynasty, it was originally twenty-eight palms, when the gang leader Xiao Feng's martial arts were world-famous, but because of the identity of the Khitans, he went to the complexity and simplified, reduced the twenty-eight palms to ten palms, and became the eighteen palms of the dragon, which was passed down from generation to generation by the righteous brother Vulture Palace Xuzhuzi, which was passed down from generation to generation. By the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, although the successor gang leader Yelu Qi had his father-in-law Guo Jing to teach and learn completely, but since then, the beggar gang has served as the gang leader, because of the lack of roots, at most only learned fourteen palms. ”

You see, even if Shi Huolong's roots were not good later, and he only Xi twelve palms, and even later the palm method was lost, Jin Yong could be regarded as writing the inheritance of the eighteen palms of the descending dragon thoroughly, which was reasonable.

The inheritance of the six-vein divine sword is not like this, except for Duan Yu, no one else has Xi the complete six-vein divine sword, and the senior monks of the Tianlong Temple have only Xi one of the "swords" respectively, so the heavy responsibility of inheriting the six-vein divine sword naturally falls on Duan Yu.

So why didn't Duan Yu pass on this set of swordsmanship?

Although Duan Yu has the character of "not loving Xi martial arts", but that is only the idea that he will have as a martial arts person, when he becomes the monarch of Dali, he no longer shoulders his own life, but the fate of the entire Dali country, he naturally has reason to improve martial arts, and also has the obligation to inherit martial arts, to ensure that his children and grandchildren can stand tall in the martial arts with those divine skills, and also to ensure that the throne is not lost.

Therefore, there is only one explanation for the loss of the Six-Vein Divine Sword, and that is that Duan Yu believes that this martial art is not worth inheriting.

Second, the descendants of the Duan clan of Dali

The reason why the six-vein divine sword is lost is because Duan Yu's grandson "Southern Emperor" Duan Zhixing, who appeared in the "Double Eagle", is good at martial arts with only one move and one yang finger, and the six-vein divine sword is no longer visible.

As mentioned in "Tianlong Babu", the Yiyang Finger is actually the "pre-martial arts" of the six-vein divine sword.

You look at the description of the original book: "The six-vein divine sword is not a real sword, but a sword qi turned into sword qi with the finger power of a yang finger, which is qualitative and intangible, and can be called an invisible qi sword." The so-called six veins are the six veins of the hand, the Taiyin Lung Meridian, the Yin Pericardial Meridian, the Shaoyin Heart Meridian, the Sun Small Intestine Meridian, the Yang Ming Large Intestine Meridian, and the Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian. ”

And in the tenth chapter of the original work, it is also mentioned that the six-vein divine sword is indeed a martial art that has reached the magical realm, and the book only says: "The 'six-vein divine sword', 'flame knife', Shaolin fingering, etc., condense the internal strength, and send out the invisible sword that turns into destruction and hurts people, which is only an exaggeration of the novelist, not true, and the reader regards it as a 'fable exaggeration'." ”

It is indeed a superior martial art that can turn qi into form, just like the invisible qi wall released by the Shaolin sweeping monk, and it is also a manifestation of the external release of internal force, which is really strong.

But it is worth noting that Jin Yong has never said that the One Yang Finger is inferior to the Six Veins Divine Sword.

In fact, judging from the setting of the Xiaoyao faction wanting to plunder the world's martial arts cheats, the six-vein divine sword and the Yiyang finger are the same martial arts, at least for the Dali Duan clan, the two cheats are equally important.

Therefore, there is such a sentence engraved in the blessed land of Lang Huan: "He approached with a candle and saw that the bookshelf was full of signs...... In the signature of 'Dali Duan's', bet on the words 'lack of a yang fingering, six veins of divine sword swordsmanship, regret'. ”

Later, the one yang finger used by a lamp is also comparable to Hong Qigong's eighteen dragon-descending palms, if the setting of the newly revised version prevails, the eighteen dragon-descending palms used by Hong Qigong is even the improved version of Xuzhu, which is more exquisite than the version used by Xiao Feng back then.

So you can also see how subtle the yang finger is from here.

However, there is actually more intuitive evidence in the book that can prove that the Six-Vein Divine Sword is overpraised by readers.

3. A third-rate warrior who appeared in later generations

The reason why the Six-Vein Divine Sword looks exquisite is because it is not a real sword, but an invisible qi sword.

However, whether a martial art is good or bad, it still has to be judged from its power, and it is clearly mentioned in the book that the power of the six-vein divine sword is not strong, and it can't even penetrate a tree.

During the battle of Shaomu Mountain, Duan Yu reflected the disadvantages of this move when he faced Murong Fu: "Originally, the six-vein divine sword and the six-way sword technique were much more powerful than a single sword, but Duan Yu didn't understand the trick, and he made a single sword more mature, and more than ten swords were used, Murong Fu had already seen sweat on his forehead, and he couldn't help but retreat, retreated to a big locust tree, leaning on the tree to defend." ”

Therefore, under the premise of "not being powerful", just being able to "turn gas into form" seems a bit flashy.

In fact, there are many third-rate masters in the martial arts in later generations, who can "turn qi into form".

Why did Duan Yu give up the Six-Vein Divine Sword? It's not that he doesn't have talent, the answer is hidden in the Heaven and Dragon Slayer

For example, Wu Lie in "Heaven and Dragon Slayer": "Wu Lie waved his left hand and pressed towards the village girl. The village girl leaned over to dodge, and with a clang, the long sword in her hand intersected with Wei Bi's long sword. At this moment, Wu Lie's right index finger trembled, and he had already hit the two points of "Fu Rabbit" and "Wind City" on the outside of her left leg. The village girl snorted lightly, stood on her feet, and fell on Zhang Wuji's body, but she felt that her whole body was warm, and she couldn't use any strength to lift a finger, as if she had a thousand catties of weight. ”

Another example is the Huangfu Pavilion in "The Legend of the Deer and Ding": "The Huangfu Pavilion shouted: 'Good' Prajna Palm'!" Chengguang dodged to the left, and with a snap, the wind slammed into the wooden door. Chengguang opened his palm, concentrating on the battle. ”

Obviously, "turning qi into form" is no longer an uncommon thing in the martial arts of later generations, compared to the One Yang Finger, the cost performance of the Six-Vein Divine Sword is extremely low, and it is natural for Duan Yu to abandon it.
