Li Jing originally thought that night would be as peaceful as usual. Her husband, Li Wei, a business manager who travels a lot, told her that the trip would last until the weekend. There was no sign that this night would be a turning point in her life.
She never thought she would find herself in such a situation.
Li Jing and Li Wei's marriage used to be so happy, but as time passed, Li Wei's frequent business trips, indifferent attitude and neglect of her caused a rift in their relationship. Driven by loneliness and neglect, she found solace, and in those long nights, she grew closer and closer to Li Wei's friend Zhang Qiang.
Zhang Qiang always visited Li Wei when he was not at home, providing the company and listening she needed. His thoughtfulness and care slowly filled the void in her heart. Although Li Jing knew in her heart that this was a dangerous path, her loneliness and desire for care trumped her reason.
However, on that deliberately quiet night, when Zhang Qiang appeared at her door again, everything went out of control. Their forgetfulness was played out in Li Jing's private space, just as the two hearts were immersed in forbidden emotions, Li Wei suddenly went home because of the cancellation of the flight. The news of his return was not notified to Li Jing, hoping to surprise her, and the biggest shock in his heart was also presented at the moment when the door opened.
The traditional wooden door panel was gently pushed open, and Li Wei's steps came to a sudden standstill. Seeing his wife and close friends strange, the pain in his heart penetrated all his reason and breath. Anger, betrayal, sadness, confusion, all kinds of intertwined emotions permeated his spacious living room.
"Li Jing!" was the only thing he could say, and he turned and rushed out of the room, as if fleeing the moment would pull him out of the abyss.
Li Jing was stunned, she never expected this scene to happen, let alone Li Wei to return so suddenly. Her heart instantly froze from the heat, and her trembling voice and mouth opened but she couldn't speak. At that moment, all the intricate emotions stirred in her heart.
She looked at Zhang Qiang's overwhelmed expression and felt the shock of this confusion. No matter how they interpret it, it is impossible to reverse what has happened. Li Jing knew that the mistakes she had made could not be undone with words.
She finally moved, walked slowly to the door, looked at Li Weiyuan's back, and an unprecedented impulse rose in her heart, which was repentance, and self-blame for not being at the beginning. She walked slowly in the night wind, with heavy steps and full of guilt, knowing that the road ahead would be long and lonely.
Under the shadow of the street lights, Li Jing's figure looked extremely lonely. She watched Li Wei's car go away, and he didn't even give her any chance to explain and confront her. Her heart was like a knife, and she knew that her impulse had dealt a fatal blow to this already precarious marriage.
Back in the cold home, Li Jing found that Zhang Qiang had left in a hurry, leaving only an empty room and her chaotic thoughts. As if drained of all her strength, she leaned weakly against the door, tears blurring the world in front of her. Helplessness about the future, guilt about one's actions, fear of the end of the marriage...... All emotions are surging.
The next day, in the haze, Li Jing received a call from Li Wei. His voice was calm and cold, and he told her only one news: he asked for a divorce and hoped that she would think it out before making a decision. The call was then hung up, and there was no more conversation.
A few days later, Li Jing sorted out her thoughts and re-examined the relationship. She decided to go to Li Wei herself, believing that face-to-face dialogue was the only way to solve the problem. In a quiet coffee shop, Li Jing met Li Wei, who looked tired and cold.
She confessed her feelings to him and explained why she had gotten so close to Mr. Zhang. Her words were full of remorse, and she also expressed her attitude that she had not given up on this marriage. However, she also made it clear that if Li Wei decided to divorce, she would respect his choice.
Li Wei listened, his face expressionless, but his eyes flashed with pain from time to time. He finally spoke, and he said that although he was very sad and disappointed, his own neglect may have been part of the reason for the situation. He suggested that the two should be separated for a while, and the space might allow each other to think calmly, and maybe they could also regain their former feelings.
A few months after the breakup, Li Jing struggled to adjust her life. She began to reconnect with some old friends, attend yoga classes, and occasionally travel alone, enriching her mind with new life experiences.
At the same time, Li Wei did not stop reflecting, and began to reduce business trips, make work-life balance, think about how to repair his relationship with Li Jing, and what he really wanted.
Time was ticking, and their distance from each other seemed to give them room to think. After thinking and growing independently, they decided to sit down and talk again. With this distance, they are able to communicate and understand more calmly.
After reconnecting, Li Jing and Li Wei, although there are still many problems to be solved, they are willing to work together to regain the lost trust and love. They know that the road ahead is still difficult, but they also believe that if they are willing to face it honestly, understand and support each other, they may be able to get out of this shadow and rebuild their lives.
Their stories aren't perfect, but the trials and tribulations of life have taught them that true relationships need to be managed and grown together. It is not easy to pick up the pieces and start over, but perhaps, this is a new beginning of their love.
