On December 20, at the special session of the "Heroic City New Journey" series of situation and policy reports in Huangpi District, Chen Songlin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chief scientist in the field of biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Water Sciences, and director of the National Key Laboratory of Marine Aquaculture Biological Breeding and Sustainable Output, sent a video from Hainan to send a message to the development of Huangpi.

Academician Chen Songlin was born in Yannan Street, Changyan Community, Wangjiahe Street, Huangpi District, and studied in Changyan Middle School, Wangjiahe Street, and studied in France and Germany for four years after graduating from university and working. In 2000, Academician Chen Songlin gave up the preferential treatment abroad, returned to the motherland, and devoted himself to the scientific research of aquatic fisheries.
Over the past 40 years, Academician Chen Songlin has been conscientious and dedicated to the research of fish biotechnology (engineering), established a marine fish germplasm cryopreservation technology system, discovered the first fish sex-specific molecular marker in the mainland, completed the first fish whole genome sequencing in the mainland, filled many gaps, and achieved a number of world-leading scientific and technological achievements. In 2021, Chen Songlin was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, becoming the eighth academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
