The Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant is located in the coastal area of Huangbu Town, Huidong County, Guangdong Province, which is a coastal area and is composed of hard rock. According to the characteristics and safety considerations of nuclear power engineering, the waterproof requirements of Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant are Level 1, and the 1# and 2# nuclear power units adopt sunken plant excavated from the mountain downward. According to the construction requirements of the underground waterproofing project of the 1# and 2# nuclear power units of Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant, the waterproof design and material function not only require that the lap edge adhesion, hydrostatic pressure, tensile strength, permeability resistance and static friction coefficient of the waterproofing membrane, salt and alkali resistance, chloride ion penetration resistance and other related test results meet the requirements of the design standards, but also the functional effectiveness is better than that of foreign products of the same type.

This is especially true of the 1# and 2# nuclear power unit buildings of Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant. The project as a whole has customized stricter restrictive standards for all elements of waterproof demonstration operation, witnessed the process and evaluation results at all levels, and issued the final process evaluation report as a model for subsequent construction standards for the operation level, management, supervision level, third party, etc. in the formal construction.
During the promotion of the project, the Dongfang Yuhong HDPE technical team selected a waterproof construction model of not less than 20 square meters, displayed the detailed structure of different parts such as planes, penetrations, end ends, and adjacent joints, and laid the samples in the parts designated by the on-site management personnel, cut representative small samples, and accepted thickness, ductility, adhesion and strength inspection.
The project team evaluated the process of the HDPE polymer self-adhesive membrane for special nuclear power from the aspects of base treatment, waterproof membrane paving, yin and yang corner construction, waterproof layer finishing, membrane protection, membrane repair, sampling test, etc. The key process parameters determined by the process evaluation are applied to the practice of nuclear island engineering, which improves the waterproof effect of nuclear power engineering, ensures the progress of waterproof construction of nuclear power engineering, avoids the problems of difficult waterproof treatment in the later stage and high repair cost of water leakage, effectively prolongs and improves the operating life of nuclear power plants, and accumulates rich experience for the subsequent construction of similar projects.
