IT Home reported on December 19 that Microsoft's Edge browser has launched a new flags in 120.0.2210.61 and newer, which can force the Mica mica appearance to be enabled.
Microsoft has actually introduced the Mica-designed Edge for a long time, but there was feedback from users that turning on the Mica-effect would cause performance issues in the browser, so Microsoft later hid it for a while.
Here are the steps you can take to enable Mica visuals in Microsoft Edge:
- Select the menu (three dots) > Help & Feedback >> About Microsoft Edge to confirm which Edge version you are using.
- Enter edge://flags/#edge-visual-rejuv-mica in the address bar of the Edge browser and change the feature to Enabled, then restart the browser.
- Enter edge://settings/ appearance in the address bar of the Edge browser and confirm that the Show Windows 11 visuals (preview) in title bar and toolbar toggle appears. Of course, you'll also need to select the default theme to enable this option, and you'll need to restart the browser again.
IT Home reminds that Microsoft has previously said that turning on Mica may cause performance issues, so if you encounter any performance issues when using it, you can switch back to the original state by changing #edge-visual-rejuv-mica back to default or Disabled.
