Burmese nationals working in Malaysia are also subject to income tax
The Embassy of Myanmar in Malaysia, a subsidiary of the State Administration Commission, issued a notice on December 17 stating that according to the 2023 Federal Tax Law Amendment Law, Myanmar citizens working abroad are required to pay income tax on their foreign currency wages.
The Embassy of Myanmar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will collect income tax on passport and other consular services for Myanmar nationals, so a 2% income tax will be levied from October 2023 to March 2024.
By paying income tax, to a certain extent, the country's citizens will be supported to education, medical care, transportation and other livelihood projects that are beneficial to the people, and then the Burmese who have paid the income tax will return to China to buy real estate, vehicles, etc., and when they are subject to income review, they can provide proof of income tax paid and enjoy the corresponding tax deduction.
Seven Burmese workers were arrested upon entering Thailand
Thai media reported that in Thailand, the authorities arrested Burmese people who smuggled into the country by hiding in fruit baskets.
It is understood that at the entrance to Mae Sot, Thailand, when the Thai authorities inspected the transit vehicle, they arrested three Burmese men and four women who intended to enter the country illegally in a fruit basket on a vehicle.
According to media reports, the above-mentioned Burmese workers want to go to the Bangkok area through Mae Sot, and after success, each person will pay 17,000 baht to the intermediary.
It is reported that the Thai woman and the Burmese worker who transported the illegal entry into Myanmar were handed over to the relevant police station, and they will be held accountable in accordance with the relevant laws.
