A lighthouse is a tower-like luminous beacon built near a key part of the waterway, a fixed beacon whose basic role is to guide ships to sail or indicate danger zones. The first lighthouse in Shandong Hai District was the Chengshanjiao Lighthouse, which was built in 1863 for private fundraising. After that, lighthouses such as Kuntong Island, Penglai Pavilion Puzhao Lou, Qitu Island, Monkey Rock Island, Gongyi Island, TuanDao Island, Xiao qingdao, Chaolian Island, Yantai Mountain and so on were built successively. Before the founding of New China, due to continuous wars and chaos, these lighthouses were destroyed. After the founding of New China, after reconstruction, construction and transformation, most of the lighthouses continued to play an important role, and 13 new lighthouses such as the Qianliyan Lighthouse were built. By the end of 2005, there were 28 lighthouses in Shandong Hai District.

Yantai Navigation Beacon District Lighthouse
Chengshanjiao Lighthouse is located at Chengshanjiao, the easternmost point of the Shandong Peninsula. According to historical records, the installation of navigational aids in ChengshanJiao began in the first year of the Qing Dynasty (1821), when wooden poles were hung with oil lamps for navigation. In the second year of Qing Tongzhi (1863), the locals rebuilt it into a granite tower, the tower is about 4 meters wide and about 6 meters high, the upper part is an open-air lookout, the four corners are granite columns, the upper beams are placed, the brazier is suspended, and the wood is burned in the iron basin, navigated by a beacon. The existing Chengshanjiao Lighthouse was built on the seventh day of november in the 13th year of the Qing Dynasty (December 15, 1874), with a stoney body and a height of about 73 meters. The tower was damaged during the Liberation War and was restored in 1950 and used.
Yantai Zhifu Bay Kuntong Island Lighthouse
The lighthouse of Kundong Island was originally called Lu Xun Lighthouse (its name is derived from the time the lighthouse was set up by Lu Xun of the Eastern Customs Taxation Department), also known as Yantai Lighthouse, located on The Kuntong Island in Zhifu Bay, Yantai City, and is one of the earliest lighthouses set up by the old customs in the Chinese sea area. The lighthouse was built in the fifth year of The Qing Dynasty (1866) and glowed in July of the sixth year of Tongzhi (May 1867). The lighthouse is cylindrical in shape, decorated with white and red horizontal stripes, the tower is 3 meters high, the circumference is 15.5 meters, and it is made of 9 layers of granite strips of stone, and the seat has a rectangular south gate, which is 1.7 meters high and 1.15 meters wide, and the frontal stone on the door is written with the words "A.D1866". In the thirty-first year of the Qing Dynasty (1905), the Yantai Mountain Lighthouse in Yantai Benbu was completed, and the lighthouse was renamed Kuntong Island Lighthouse. During the Liberation War, the tower was destroyed, but the pedestal is well preserved. In 1955, a new iron frame pile body was built. In 1974, a brick white circular tower was rebuilt on the original basis. In 1997, the lighthouse was relocated and rebuilt, and the new tower site was about 30 meters east of the original tower, 18 meters high, white brick concrete structure, illuminated on December 26.
Located at the northwestern tip of the Tutu Peninsula in Longkou City, the Futu Island Lighthouse was built in the 10th year of the Qing Dynasty (1871). Originally, the tower had a wooden penthouse, 61 meters above sea level. In 1915, the tower was rebuilt after it was taken over by the old customs. Divided into two floors, the floor and roof are poured with concrete, and the tower is white hexagonal. In 1951, the grey three-legged iron frame lighthouse (demolished in 2001) was rebuilt on the original site, with a height of 56 meters. In July 1977, the Longkou Municipal Fisheries Bureau rebuilt the stone white lighthouse 5 meters south of the original lighthouse, with a height of 57 meters. In 2004, the tower was rebuilt, lanterns were replaced, and it lit up on October 29.
The Monkey Rock Island Lighthouse is located on Monkey Rock Island in the Temple Island Archipelago of Long Island County, and was built in the eighth year of the Qing Dynasty (1882) by the East Customs. The tower is made of granite, round and black. The lighthouse was damaged during the Liberation War and restored in 1950. In November 1992, the lanterns were renovated.
Located in the eastern part of the Shandong Peninsula, the lighthouse was built in the ninth year of the Qing Dynasty (1883) with a cylindrical cast iron tower. During the Liberation War, the lighthouse was destroyed. In 1950, a gray iron frame was rebuilt in its original location, with a height of 14 meters. In 1956, it was rebuilt as a circular stone tower with red and white horizontal stripes.
The Flagstaff Lighthouse is located on Huangdao Island at the western end of Liugong Island in Weihai Harbor and was built in the 16th year of the Qing Dynasty (1890). Before 1891, it was occasionally ignited, and the actual effect was not great. In 1898, a lighthouse was rebuilt in its original location and built by customs supervision. Before the founding of New China, the lighthouse was destroyed in the war. In 1951, it was rebuilt as an iron frame lamp pile. In 1976, a brick white cylindrical tower was rebuilt on the site.
Zhao Beizui Lighthouse is located on the coastal headland of Zhao Beizui on the east side of Weihai Harbor, and was built in the sixteenth year of Qing Guangxu (1890), designed and manufactured by the Schotelier Company in Paris, France, and the lighthouse was cast in iron. Before the founding of New China, the lighthouse was destroyed several times. The lighthouse was restored in 1951 and used.
Yantai Mountain Lighthouse
Yantai Mountain Lighthouse is a landmark building in Yantai City, located on the top of the coast of Yantai Port, and was built in July 1905. The original lighthouse was a "gun fortress-style" building, which was rebuilt in 1988 as a 12-sided white cylindrical reinforced concrete structure tower.
The Old North Mountain Lighthouse is located on the top of the Old North Mountain on both sides of The Penglai Pavilion, formerly known as the Penglai Pavilion Puzhao Tower Lighthouse, which was built in the seventh year of qing tongzhi (1868) as a hexagonal brick and wood tower. In the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), the Puzhao Building was destroyed, the lighthouse stopped shining, and the East Customs Longkou Branch built a new lighthouse on the top of the Old North Mountain on the west side of the Puzhao Building, called the Old North Mountain Lighthouse, instead of the Puzhao Building Lighthouse. In 1952, it was rebuilt as an iron frame structure. In 1978, it was converted into a stone cylindrical tower.
North Changshan Lighthouse is located on Dading Mountain, North Changshan Island, Changshan Island, Changshan Archipelago, and was founded in 1951. In 1953, it was rebuilt into an iron frame structure. In 1973, it was rebuilt as a stone cylindrical stone tower.
Jingzitou Lighthouse is located in Jingzitou, Weihai City, and was built in 1953 with an iron frame structure. In 1975, it was converted into a brick cylindrical tower.
Located on the northernmost part of the Changshan Archipelago in the northern part of the Shandong Peninsula, the Beihuangcheng Lighthouse was built in 1956 as an iron frame structure. In 1974, it was rebuilt as a 5-meter-high stone cylindrical lighthouse. In August 1980, it was rebuilt as a 10-meter-high lighthouse. Sushan Island Lighthouse is located on Sushan Island off the sea of Rongcheng City, was built in 1957, white cylindrical stone tower, 5 meters high, demolished in 1958. In 1979, a 10-meter-high stone cylindrical lighthouse was rebuilt on the original site.
Sea Owl Head Lighthouse, also known as Qingyutan Lighthouse, is located in the territory of Qingyutan, Rongcheng City, was built in 1963, white stone cylindrical structure, 14 meters high. In 1980, lanterns were installed.
DazhuShan Lighthouse is located on Dazhu Mountain in the Changshan Archipelago and was founded in 1980. The tower is 10 meters high, the lamp height is 204.6 meters, and the stone structure.
Jiming Island Lighthouse is located on Jiming Island in the north of Weihai, built in 1953 as a lamp pile, earth-colored cylindrical guard pavilion, 4.5 meters high. In 1979, it was rebuilt as a 7-meter-high cylindrical stone tower. In 1987, it was converted into a lighthouse.
Xiaozhushan Lighthouse is located on Xiaozhushan Island in the Changshan Archipelago, which was built in 1951 as a lamp pile, gray iron frame structure, 7 meters high. In 1974, it was rebuilt as a 5-meter-high white cylindrical stone tower. In 1997, it was converted into a lighthouse.
Sea Donkey Island Lighthouse is located on Donkey Island in the North Sea at the eastern end of the Shandong Peninsula, and was built in 1953 as a lamp pile, gray iron frame structure, 7.5 meters high. In 1976, it was rebuilt as a 7-meter-high white cylindrical stone tower. In 1990, it was rebuilt as a white hexagonal brick-concrete structure.

Qingdao Navigation Beacon District Lighthouse
Tuandao Lighthouse is located on the south headland on the west side of Tuandao Island in Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao. It was founded in 1898. It was opened on December 1, 1900 and named The Yuuchi Mountain Lighthouse. The tower is a stone octagonal structure with a height of 15.4 meters, a height of 24 meters, a range of 15 nautical miles, and an aerosol. Destroyed in August 1914 in the German-Japanese War. On August 5, 1919, the lighthouse was rebuilt, the tower was 15.2 meters high, the height of the lamp was 24 meters, called the "Yuuchi Mountain Lightstand Fog Alarm", the structure was a black and white horizontal octagonal stone tower, and equipped with an aerosol number. In 1955, it was renamed Tuandao Lighthouse. In June 1960, the original fog equipment was dismantled and replaced with a German-made electric fog. In 1992, it was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
Chaolian Island Lighthouse is located on Chaolian Island in the Yellow Sea southeast of Qingdao City. In October 1898, the German occupation authorities established a sixth-level temporary light marker on Chaolian Island, and in 1903, it was rebuilt into a stone octagonal brown stone tower, with a height of 14 meters, a height of 73 meters, a range of 10 nautical miles, and a firing of a medicine line cannon every ten minutes in the event of heavy fog to show the location of the lighthouse. The lighthouse was destroyed during the German-Japanese War of 1914. It was rebuilt in August 1915 as an octagonal stone tower with a height of 12.8 meters, a lamp height of 80 meters, a range of 21 nautical miles, and a fog flute. On July 31, 1945, it was blown up by American aircraft. On August 28, 1948, the remnants of the tower on Asahina Island were restored. After that, the Chaolian Island Lighthouse has undergone many major repairs, all of which adhere to the principle of "repairing the old as old" and basically maintaining the original appearance.
Qingdao Qianhai Qingdao Bay Small Qingdao Lighthouse
Xiao Qingdao Lighthouse is located in Qingdao Bay, Qianhai, Qingdao, Qingdao, and is one of the landmark buildings of Qingdao. Originally built in the 26th year of qing guangxu (1900), it is a brown stone tower with a height of 11.7 meters, a lamp height of 26 meters, and a range of 12 nautical miles. It was destroyed during the German-Japanese War of 1914. In July 1915, it was rebuilt as a white octagonal stone tower with a height of 15.5 meters and a height of 30.8 meters. In November 1963, the lantern was technically modified to install a 500 mm diameter rotating bull's eye lens. In 1992, it was listed as a municipal key cultural relics protection unit. It was remodeled from September to December 1995 and has a height of 16.5 meters. In August 1997, the original lens was removed and replaced with a Spanish FGA-175 lamp.
Located on Dagong Island in the Yellow Sea southeast of Qingdao, the Dagong Island Lighthouse was built in 1908 as an iron black circular lighthouse. Destroyed in the German-Japanese War of 1914, it was rebuilt in July 1915. Destroyed during the War of Resistance Against Japan, it was restored in 1946. In September 1988, the Ta Kung Island Lighthouse was rebuilt as a white fiberglass tower with a height of 10.4 meters. It was relocated and rebuilt in July 1996. Horseshoe Reef Lighthouse is located on the west side of the small port gate of Qingdao Port, so named because of the horseshoe shape of the reef. Originally erected in 1904 as a beacon for horseshoe reef set up by the German-Cham Port Authority, it was destroyed during the German-Japanese War in 1914 and converted into a black-and-white cylindrical stone tower in August 1915. In July 1997, an investment of 50,000 yuan was made to strengthen the foundation of Horseshoe Reef. Located at the north top of QianliYan Island in the yellow sea southeast of Jimo City, the Qianliyan Lighthouse was built in 1954 as a lamp pile. In January 1980, it was converted into a lighthouse with a red and white stone circle.
Rizhao Lighthouse is located at the southern end of Rizhao City, formerly known as The Stone Mortar Lighthouse, built in 1985, the tower is 39.9 meters high, the range is 18 nautical miles, the tower is a reinforced concrete structure. In June 1992, it was renamed Rizhao Lighthouse.
The Bridge Island Lighthouse is located on the southern bridge island reef of Jiaozhou Bay, and was built in 1926 as an iron square column lamp pile. In April 1933, it was rebuilt as a red and black horizontal belt iron frame tower. It was destroyed during the liberation of Qingdao in 1949 and rebuilt in 1954. In October 2002, it was converted into a red reinforced concrete lighthouse with a height of 12 meters.
Laoshantou Lighthouse is located on the headland of Laojiao Mountain at the southeast end of Laoshan Mountain in Qingdao, which was built in 1954 as a lamp pile and rebuilt into a white circular stone tower in 1975.
