At 3:42 a.m. on December 16, the Luliang City Fire and Rescue Detachment received a report that a truck at the west exit of the expressway in Lishi District caught fire and was in urgent need of rescue. After receiving the police, the special service station of Beichuan Hexi Road in Luliang City immediately rushed to the scene for rescue.
After arriving at the scene, it was found that the fire was a semi-trailer, used to transport FRP composite materials, the vehicle was in the stage of fierce burning, and the commander immediately ordered three foam guns to attack the fire, and use foam fire extinguishing agent to control the fire to prevent the spread. Because the temperature was as low as minus 18 °C at the time of the incident, the water spray from the water cannon hit the ground and froze in a moment, causing a certain difficulty to the rescue.
Faced with the adverse conditions caused by extreme weather, the firefighters endured the biting cold and scorching flames, and successfully extinguished the fire after an hour of hard work. In order to prevent the fire from re-ignishing, fire rescue personnel inspect the remaining ashes at the scene and carry out clean-up work.
After the mission ended, everyone realized that the combat suits, helmets and other protective equipment soaked with water and foam liquid had formed thick ice cubes in the severe cold, as if they had put on ice armor and transformed into "ice armor warriors". Although everyone was wearing "ice armor" and it was extremely inconvenient to move, it would not reduce the firm belief in extinguishing the fire at all, and in the biting cold wind, no one retreated.
