As we all know, there were three pairs of dynasties in history: the Western Han Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Western Jin Dynasty and the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and the Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty.
The first Western Han Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty, are the world of the Liu family, the two are the most completely separated, in 8 AD, Wang Mang, who was born in a foreign relative, abolished the late emperor of the Western Han Dynasty, and the Western Han Dynasty perished.
In the following years, Wang Mang messed around, and the world was in chaos, and in 25 AD, Liu Xiu unified the troubled times and established the Eastern Han Dynasty. Although there was a gap of more than ten years between the two, later generations felt that these two Han Dynasty were the most continuous.
Because both the Eastern Han Dynasty and the Western Han Dynasty were both strong! Moreover, they were all great unified dynasties! There was basically no difference in the way of governance and the atmosphere of the court. If the capital of the Eastern Han Dynasty was not in Luoyang, but still in Chang'an, it would be even more like.
The second Western Jin Dynasty and Eastern Jin Dynasty are different, they are not continuous in space, but they are continuous in time.
After the fall of the Western Jin Dynasty was the rebellion of the eight kings, the world was in chaos, and many local courts could not control it, and the Xiongnu Han State that rose in Shanxi first broke through Luoyang, the capital of the Western Jin Dynasty, and captured the penultimate emperor, and a group of ministers of the Western Jin Dynasty supported a small emperor and ran to Chang'an, Guanzhong.
This small court could only directly control a small piece of the central and northwest, but it was soon broken by the Xiongnu Khanate, and the Western Jin Dynasty was destroyed in 316 AD.
After the chaos of the Western Jin Dynasty, Sima Rui of the Western Jin Dynasty went to Jiankang, he controlled the south of the Yangtze River, which was the place of the Eastern Wu Dynasty before, and the last emperor of the Western Jin Dynasty was captured in Chang'an, Sima Rui was very sad, and then called the emperor in 317 AD, because the emperors were all Sima family, so the history is called the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
Although the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Western Jin Dynasty were seamlessly connected in time, the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the final Western Jin Dynasty were completely apart in space.
Third, the Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty are different, they are continuous in time and space, and the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty was in 1127 A.D. when Jingkang was martyred, and the last two emperors, Song Huizong and Song Qinzong, were captured by the Jin.
And Zhao Gou, the ninth son of Song Huizong, King Kang, survived, and soon Zhao Gou was born
The title of emperor began, and the Southern Song Dynasty began.
But unlike many people's impressions, there is no difference between the Southern Song Dynasty at this time and the Northern Song Dynasty at the time of its demise, and the south of the Yellow River and Guanzhong are still in the hands of the Great Song Dynasty.
Zhao Gou succeeded to the throne in Nanjing, which was not Jiankang (today's Nanjing), but Shangqiu, Henan, which was only more than 100 kilometers away from the official capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, Tokyo Bianliang, that is, Kaifeng, and the Jin people did not occupy Kaifeng at this time, and they quickly retreated.
The ministers and generals of the main battle faction also kept asking Zhao Gou to return to Kaifeng and not hide behind. Judging from the later development of the war, the gap between the military strength of the Song Dynasty and Dajin was not so big.
If Zhao Gou really returns to Kaifeng and uses the main battle faction to rectify the Yellow River defense line, you have to say that it is indeed not easy to recover the lost territory north of the Yellow River, but it is still possible to hold the Yellow River and Guanzhong.
However, Zhao Gou and the main peace faction were the mainstream of the imperial court, and they were afraid that they would run south and stay away from the Jin army to be safe.
The more they ran south, the more the defense line could not withstand it, the Jin army chased them to fight, they were all beaten across the Yangtze River, Zhao Gou ran away from the sea, the Jin people's level of education and domination was very low at this time, and he couldn't control the territory he occupied, so he retreated north.
Zhao Gou used Yue Fei and Han Shizhong's Northern Expedition to recapture a lot of lost territory, but his war was still to promote peace, almost enough, don't provoke the Jin people, what if you fight again?
The final result is that the south of the Yellow River, the north of the Huai River and the northwest Guanzhong have all been lost, and what remains is the territory of the Southern Song Dynasty that we are familiar with.
Therefore, among the three pairs of dynasties, the Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty can be regarded as the most common dynasty.
