On November 9, local time, according to the Global Times, the United States and Israel have agreed to a "humanitarian ceasefire" for four hours a day in the northern Gaza Strip to allow civilians to retreat and humanitarian relief supplies to be delivered.
Even so, the Council on U.S.-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States, is unhappy, and Mitchell, its deputy director, said in a statement that the U.S. should demand a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip instead of the symbolic "four hours a day." At the same time, Biden has the power to demand that Israel end the massacres in the Gaza Strip and achieve a permanent peace between Palestine and Israel.
Of course, judging from CAIR's actions since the outbreak of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the response of the US government, CAIR's appeal cannot be said to be useless at all, but can only be said to be of little use, and there are several key time nodes:
The first is that on October 24, the United States voted against the Brazilian proposal on the Palestinian-Israeli issue in the United Nations Security Council, which triggered a fierce reaction from the Muslim community in the United States. CAIR then accused the U.S. government of "unacceptable" vetoing the ceasefire resolution, and speculation abounded that CAIR might not vote for Biden in the 2024 election to swing the state race left and right.
In desperation, it was reported that Biden met with the leaders of several Muslim organizations in the United States in a low-key manner on October 26 and explained the US policy in the Middle East, but the basic position and strategy of the United States in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict have not changed since then. On November 2, the White House made another remedy, and Pierre, who served as the spokesman of the White House, announced at a press conference on the same day that the United States would introduce the first national strategy to "combat Islamophobia" and "protect the Muslim community"; However, on 3 November, the House of Representatives passed a $14.3 billion military aid bill to Israel, and the White House has not stopped providing military aid to Israel by using the president's special powers, and it has not been in the mind of the US government to dissuade Israel from stopping its bombing of Gaza.
Judging from the fighting methods of the US government and CAIR in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, we can see at least three points:
One is that the U.S. government has been hugely deceptive in its treatment of Muslim civil rights organizations such as CAIR. In particular, in the many actions that followed October 20, every time CAIR questioned the U.S. government's approach, the U.S. government threw out a temporary strategy as a stopgap measure. For example, President Biden is also going to meet with Muslim civil rights leaders, and he is claiming to introduce a national strategy to protect the Muslim community. It is difficult to say whether these tactics were serious or not, but they have somewhat served to temporarily stabilize the mood of the Muslim community in the United States and prevent greater turmoil, and to put it bluntly, it is a fraudulent strategy.
The second is the great hypocrisy of the U.S. government towards the Muslim community. No one has been more aggressive in the massacre of Muslims than Israel, which has been providing military assistance to Israel since the outbreak of the conflict and vetoing ceasefire resolutions, effectively giving Israel the green light to kill people in the Gaza Strip. And it is the biggest joke that such a US government should dare to declare that it wants to eliminate Muslim phobia in the United States and advertise itself as the spokesman of the Muslim community.
The third is that the U.S. government's Israel policy has become a huge strategic negative asset. Especially when the Democratic administration is facing the 2024 election, and the Muslim community has a huge influence on the election results of many swing states, it has reached the point where the Democratic Party is worth its life, and the Biden administration still has no courage to make a strategic cut with Israel. This has to make people wonder how much courage Biden has left as the leader of a superpower, how much control the Democratic Party has over his own little brothers, and can the United States really effectively conduct global governance instead of being kidnapped by regional countries?
A Palestinian-Israeli conflict has exposed so much of America's bottoms, and we really didn't expect it.
